John,
That's in my neck of the wood, within about 10 miles. If you're bored swing by and say hey....I'll be going to CEDIA on Friday...I might swing by Cliff's place on Sunday...I'd love to see 3D on the stack.
Mike

Dude. You're burning two perfect G90's for freakin' GUITAR HERO!?
You need a flashlight projector for gaming so you don't burn scores into your minty tubes...

That's until the two of you have a few too many beverages and start arguing whether 6499 or 6501K looks better for HT...

Well, we finally achieved a mini-meet Wednesday night, only a few days late. Pretty good by my standards at least, better late than never in my book.
Best video I've ever seen. Period.
The only credible 3d presentation I've yet seen, although I'm sure Craig's Chicagoland setup is similarly impressive.
We knew CRTs black presentation kicked all new technology's collective asses, and it is a certainty that this makes 3d much better, too. So nothing can do 3d like CRT, since it alone can create the DEPTH necessary for a complete 3d display!
In the middle of it all, I got a call from another of the legendary video guys from back in the day...ol' Hank of Vidikron fame. There was some poetry in his timing...just as we were getting into it. Our discussion led me to remember the PREVIOUS best video I'd ever seen, when Vidikron showed a demo from Panasonic's Japanese HD system of a slow pan through a new-growth forest...that one an early showing of Chris Steven's setup and calibration prowess. First time I ever felt as if I could walk into a video image.
So, yeah, two major events at Cliffy's the other night. I finally had a positive experience with 3d, AND my benchmark for perfect video has been updated. Best video I've ever seen.
When we put on the first 3d demonstration...Cliffy can tell you what it was...I immediately fell into a trance. The only thing on my mind was the phrase, "Must buy 3d...must buy 3d..."
Cheers and more from chilly-ass Detroit,
John

Sorry I missed it. I thought about coming up, but after spending Saturday night with Seaton, Itai and Keith Yates I was done.

Whoa.
I don't even want to imagine Yates and Seaton in the same room together...
...talk about haptic shock.
Neither of those dudes are happy until they register on the Seismic scale...Richter Spincters!
