100 hours a year? are you sure? HAHA!! Ive put 10 times that on my NEC in the past 3 months just playing video games.
Once you upgrade from the Sony to the Barco, youll have to give serious thought about ditching the Holden for a real car... And not a bloody Falcon either!! |
well, maybe 150 hours a year, I dont game much at all.
Real car? lol. Im biased but I think its fair to say my 1981 WB statesman Caprice is definitely a real car! See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLhzc_3ncVQ

well, Ive safely got the barco home in the back of the ute, and when you consider it it was about a 300km trip that was quite a feat.it currently just sitting on the coffee table, waiting for the sony to come down from the ceiling.

You'll love the braco's brighter and sharper pic. 50% noise reduction too over the 12XX as well so quiet parts of movies will be almost quiet.

Yeah mate, good upgrade indeed. When you have it all set up properly it will look alot better and sharper than the Sony provided youre not using s-video or composite video....
What tubes does it have?
I looked at that listing on more than 1 occation, but it was abit high priced for my liking considering what ive seen some XGs go for lately here in Australia.

Hey bro
I'm assuming it has the standard Sony tubes that are specified on this site. Haven't opened it to have a look. Not really game to either, if it ain't broke, don't fiddle with it! It was made in october 1997 and has a gloss black cover.
The system that the previous owner welded together for putting it up on the ceiling bracket is quite interesting. I1'll take some pics when I get a chance.
Also, I appreciate the advice given about the pricing. Saved me $30 at least since I had better negotiating power.

You got a good enough deal for what you got, cause you did get some extras, and the rig is in good nic. But for me being in QLD, its quite a stretch to pay that much with worn tubes, even if they are only slightly worn, cause if they are the Sony tubes, they are apparently dear as hell.
The $30 you saved wouldve probably covered your fuel to drive there and back if youre lucky, so thats a good thing!

yeah so Ive heard, Im hoping that ill get my fair share of use out of it and never have to replace the tubes. Here in australia, what sets could you actually source new or refurbished tubes for, at a reasonable price? (i.e less than $500 a tube).

Nothing. Youd be better off getting the tubes from Curt or someone else that is selling perfectly good tubes.
I replaced the tubes in my Sony for less than $500 a few years ago, but i dont think 07MS tubes are really that sort after, and that will be why.

Looking pretty good mate, if the colour was abit redish, i wonder what the tube conditions are like? Unless the red is just over bright, which could be the case...
