Hi there folks!
Just noticed something "interesting":
I feed a 720p60 image over RGB-HV to my BD 808s. When the picture itself is bright, something starts to squeak/chirp. If the picture gets dimmer again, it suddenly stops.
Any idea? This noise comes from a PCB in the rear area - perhaps one of the power supplies?

Unfortunately it sounds like a bad HV quadrupler.

Is it possible to swap this Quadrupler with one from a BG 800 set?

When the set fails is there a Red LED lit on the EHT module ?

My PJ doesn't fail at all, it just starts to squeak (not very loud but noticeable) when feeding a bright image.

THe quad from the 800 should work. It can also be the HV splitter, I've seen those cause chirping in the quad. The splitter remains quiet.

Just checked, if the 800 quad would fit ... but no, it has the wires off to the back, the 808s quad has it upwards. But I might swap the splitter, since this somehow looks the same.

It will work, you just need to put a spacer between the quad and the chassis.

Okay! I will try this tomorrow ... it's midnight now in Switzerland with a wonderful deep-red moon up in the sky.
By the way: What is inside this splitter? Is it just a simple splitter or are there other things involved? And why is this small "box" on this little piece of PCB marked with "Do not touch" in your section of the 800/808 series?

First rule about Fight Club: Never talk about Fight Club.
You NEVER need to adjust that control. Ever. THe world will come to an end if you do.
(it's HV calibration. Trust me on this one: DO NOT TOUCH.)

All right, understood
You know, an electrotechnical engineer has this certain need to know, what is INSIDE a box  Now I know it and I don't have to disassemble it.
After I cleaned the dust off my splitter and quad, I will swap them, starting with the splitter. Hopefully I'll find the squeaking-source before I raise it up under my ceiling on Saturday.

Hey there, I'm back.
Swapped the splitter - noise remained the same. Reinstalled the 808s splitter again.
Swapped the quad (after adapting it so it could be mounted) - noise gone! Thanks so far @all
But now I'm hearing some arcing in the region of splitter and the HV lead from the quad leading to the splitter. I'll check on it later ... I'm hungry now ^^

But yea, it's usually called electrical engineer, as it seems. We are used to call it electrotechnical engineer ... from the German study description "Elektrotechnik" ^^

Oh, well ... an El-Ing, as I call it (^^) is some type of engineer, who studied electrical circuits, electrical fields and components, computer science and some physics for semi-conductors, including quantum physics. There are several types of specialization here, such as power electronics, optical electronics or communication and antenna design.
And yea, although I started learning English when I was 5, I sometimes don't get the detection of sarcasm right ^^ I guess I'd need a "Sarcasm Sign" ^^

... by the way: Arcing disappeared Probably was a humidity problem since I cleaned the splitter before I installed it back into the PJ. Why not use the opportunity to remove dust and dirt off a component, when you have it outside the PJ

If you swap in the quad from the 800 check the EHT part number on your 808 it needs to be R76XX27.

Interesting ...
I now have the (old, BG800) R761743 Quad, the (new) R762716 EHT Module and the new Chassis. According to the compatibility list, there should be oscillations. What ever that means ... the PJ works and the picture looks stable to me?
I'd better replace the quad with a new version then anyway?
