Its alot more than that amount of time unless your feed in tariff is quite high and you have perfect conditions for a very large system.

Money saving was the motive but it seems to be lot more expensive and complicated..

Depending on system size, rate of production, rate of consumption, cost of installation, purchase tariff, feed in tariff, and location, it could be...

In my case it has been quite profitable.

Case, can you do the math for me? My understanding is that the battery life is about 7 years, ditto for the power inverters. We don't get enough sun here in Vancouver to even consider it, our power is relatively cheap. One radio guy in California swears by it, and I haven't done the math, but I'd be curious how the numbers work out for an average home.

Yeah Curt, i can check it all out for you when i get on my computer next if you like. Itll be a couple days before ill get onto it though.

I will need to know your location ( got a rough idea on that ) and what sort of angles your roof faces, a top down google earth shot like Nash posted would work reasonably well.

From there i can work out about how much power you can make per year, you will pretty easily be able to tell its value to you then. In your case you wont have batteries, too cold where you are which reduces their life. My inverter has a 5 yr warranty standard, but you can purchase more warranty in 5yr blocks up to 25 years.

Nash, what is taking so long at your end?

Well they are a small operation I think three guys. they had a lot of installs and one large 70kv ground system. I think the weather tied them up.
