TV/Projector: marquee 8000, 8500, 4 ECPs & a Sony 1272 (too many)

I finally got around to pulling down the 1272 and putting up the Marquee 8500. I had been having problems with it and found it to have a bad CLM but after replacing it and making sure the LVPS was not of the wandering variety. I ran it in my shop for a few weeks without any problems . I reversed the scans and was off by 1 pin on one of the vert . Now the Blue is really off. This is the first time looking at it with the lenses off and the contrast low. So my question is Did I mess up something up or was it like this and I did not notice until the contrast was turned down? Secondly notice the bright dots of light in the corner on each tube. I had the tubes off to adjust the raster. Rich

Hello

Looks like the blue G2 is too high, try adjusting that to start.

I agree with Tim that the G2 might be set to high.

The bright dots are common at the end of the scan trace on some marquee's . However your seem larger and brighter than i have seen before.

Hello

If the blue phosphor suffered no scarring then nothing has been harmed. A full magnetics alignment is also in order, that should result in all rasters being correctly centered like you need.

The dots are normal unless you do the "dot fix" technical bulletin. Very Happy
1 pin off on a marquee deflection circuit will simply prevent the machine from starting-up, do that on a convergence channel though and you will blow that channel.

you can find the "dot fix" tech bulletin here on Curt's site under the marquee section where all the tech bulletins are. Do the line fix at the same time.

To Adjust G2 you need to go into the service menu and adjust the 6500k RGB balance. Tim martins Web Site has a good procedure there for doing it by eye.

Thank you Everyone.I followed the G2 adjustment on Tims sight and the picture colors are perfect. All of the settings are at 50% . I still have to adjust the lens flapping and electronic focus . I am very happy with the picture so far. Rich
