I have a G90, that is on the table, setting it up right now. Last night when I powered it up with the remote, the led window did not light up at all. the unit powers up and down and every thing looks normal, but no led window display. Is this a start of the Dallas chip problem or some thing different all together ?

Maybe a bad YB (LED board) or the driver on the YA for this daughter board. Def doesn't sound like anything to do with the infamous IC421 chip. Try reseating it first.

The socket for the YB is hardwired into the YA. It sits perpendicular to the latter. No wires to mess with.

You sure it doesn't light up when you first turn it on and then go out? That would be normal.

Ok just power up the unit using the remote and the led window will not light up at all. I tried some thing else, power main switch off and then back on. the led did light up for a second and went off. If the remote is use to power the unit up, the led did not light up. Is this normal or should the led light up, when powering up with the remote too ?

Doesn't make a lot of sense. What happens when you start from the integral control panel under the sliding cover?

If you see a pic when a source is connected then don't sweat it.

Maybe someone can lend you another YB board with its LED and try to narrow the problem to that or the YA.

There is nothing wrong with your G90 as this is completely normal behavior... don't be paranoid like me Wink

You may get the display to light up momentarily when you change input scan rates, but if the projector locks on quickly it won't even light up than. Only time it usually lights is on hard power on or if something is broken.

If you get 88-88 on power hard up when you cycle the rocker switch for hard power on than your G90 is totally fine.

Happy now Smile

There's a build month/year on the info label (along with serial number) on the side near the base.

Point is though the youngest G90 is about 10 years old now so its good preventive maintenance to change out any original Dallas chips. If you spent a lot on a calibration you'll have a lot to lose if the data vaporizes.
