|
|
I am wondering if anyone is able to part with a basic input card for a G70 for a modest fee. Mine is clicking but not locking in on the signal.
I'm not looking for a nice Moome card . I'll consider one of the oldies if its really affordable. But I just need the stock RGBHV input. I have already put a touch more money into repairing this than I wanted . I may get it fixed free but I have a hunch my repair guy is going to ream me on a technicality.
Here is the backstory if anyone is bored enough to want to read it.
I had my unit's power supply problem repaired by a local guy who had some experience with the projectors.
He gave me his estimate which was more than I wanted to spend. I was shooting for 200. He wanted 300.
I asked him if he could just get it powered up for less.
I was mostly just wanting him to get the power supply handled so I could get an error message and send the likely problem
cards in to Curt. He enticed me with $250 for the unit powered up with no error messages. I took the gambit. I believe I asked him if it was fully functional for that price but he said it displayed menus and stuff great and I figured that meant it was fine.
Unfortunately the input card is not recognizing the signal source and that does not kick up an error message. This was a weird problem the unit was having before it simply wouldn't power up at all. So I still have a non functioning unit other than it displays menu's and the like perfectly. I am hoping the guy will finish the job for no extra charge or for the extra 50 dollars he wanted. But I have to consider the possibility he will say he delivered on his promise of the projector firing up and functioning with no error messages. ( He did know he wasn't getting a signal on the bench but did not tell me til after I asked him if he hooked it up because I was concerned about this problem. He said he didn't get a recognized signal from his bench equipment but felt it had something to do with his lack of an H or V signal ) I should have made him check it but I took the unit hoping for the best. Now he sort of has me by the balls here. I have to depend on his good graces. If he won't finish the job I'm going to need a card.
Or If anyone wants to also trade it for a crapload of other G70 cards I have most every sort of other card you will ever need. I just don't have an extra input card. I also have some Extron boxes I could send.

What happens if you try swapping the RGBHV card to the other slot? I had the same issue on a 1272 once. Putting the RGBHV card into the B slot fixed it.
Also do you get a picture with video or S-video?

There don't appear to be any available slots in a G70 to swap. Its possible the remote card is unnecessary but it doesn't look like it has the same sort of slot. My card only has RGBHV connectors. No video or SVideo option like on my 1271.

Well you are stuck then....
Post a WTB ( Want to buy ) in the Buy & Sell form also. You may get a faster response.
What model is your input card? ( IFB-11, IFB-12 etc...)

Can you post a picture of the back of your G70? The one on the main site shows video and s-video inputs:

Well the bad news is I can't tell if its an IB 11 or a 12. The good news is in pulling the card out to look I accidentally dislodged the orange wire paired to the red tube. I repositioned the wire and the card and its working now!
Thanks. And sorry about mentioning the unmentionable yesterday.

Glad you got it working! When you say you dislodged "the orange wire", are you talking about the big fat single red/orange wire that looks like a spark plug wire?
Oh, and just for future reference... The slot with the "REMOTE 1" card in it is indeed a standard IFB slot, and will take everything from IFB-11 and IFB-12 cards, to Moome IFB's. None of the other inputs are swappable on the G70, as with the 12xx...
PM sent...

I haven't checked the PM yet but that's good to know and a good refresher. It makes me recall that those Moome cards go in that remote slot usually.
The wire was not the spark-pluggy ones that hook to the power supply . These are like mini skinny/fat hv wires that come in colored pairs off the back of the tube and link to the input card. They are paired as a blue with a white on the blue tube a green with yellow off the green tube and a red with orange off the red tube.
I'll run and go check that PM now.
