I acquired the pj from a corp. that was changing out all their projectors in 1993 - guess it was about 10 yrs old. We installed it upside down and it worked well for a long time. A year or so ago I was doing adjustments/alignment to make the pic look better using the HATCH etc. All was well until a day or two later the left side [would be right side on a pj installed right side up] blacked out. A vertical section on the far left is black - in TEST and NORMAL. It is about 1/8 of the side of the screen. The input [composite video] is ok and a tv using the same video is ok.
Any suggestions?

Hello

Look for a more contemporary projector that is easily supported; Marquee 8500s are around for under $1500, and parts and advice are plentiful.

You're underestimating the age... try 1984 vintage.

I have a few select parts from the 1020 that you can have for the price of shipping. No idea if they work, I haven't had a 1020 here in years.

Read his post again, he was saying it was 10 years old in 1993.

OP. Throw it out and buy a newer one, even a crappy digital will give you a better picture than the video only 1020. And you can buy a crappy digital for under $50. with even a tiny bit of looking...

If you REALLY want to stay with a crt projector, you can get one, again with a tiny bit of looking for under $200. EASILY, most commercial sources are just throwing them out, nowadays, as there is no interest at all in the resale market*(except for about 40 people worldwide who frequent this forum, of course...).

Sure thing, I've got a 6PG Plus and a Barco 701 you can have. At this late stage of the crt projector game I'd like to be paid for my time to pack them up, and you can cover the cost of shipping at actual cost. I make about $28. an hour at my factory job, you can figure about 4 or 5 hours of time considering I'll have to find a pallet, get it home some how, pack and strap the projectors to is somehow, then do the calling around for shipping and filling out the necessary forms. Or, you can do all this yourself from Australia and I'll just let whoever you hire into the garage to get them.
You can Paypal me the money, if you'd prefer I waste my time doing the shipping prep, PM me for my email. Going from past experience, shipping to you in Australia should be around $700. by sea because I don't have a van any more and they'll have to be picked up at my door instead of me delivering them directly to the shipper in Montreal, 4 hours drive away. It will take about a month for them to arrive.

CRT projectors are like typewriters, they're neato cool, but hardly worth the trouble any more...
