Tim
I've got 2 lines that have been hooked up to vonage for 4 or 5 years. i've had no problems what so ever.

If the power goes out, (it happens around me 3 or 4 times a year because of the number of trees we have around here) then the phone calls automatically switch over to our cells, but it's no big deal.

The clarity is fine. You would have no idea it's voip unless i told you.

I use magic jack for all my international calls for the past couple years and it has been very clear and reliable.

You can also take the MJ USB dongle with you to almost any country and call back to the USA for free. The phone number stays with the dongle so even if you call from Europe the phone number that comes up on caller ID is a USA number. The only places this does not work are in countries that block VOIP such as N Korea.

I've had vonage for the last 5 years and it's been great, only issue I've had is sending faxes. I've spent countless hours on the phone with vonage tech support to no avail. However, this fax thing has come up probably 3 times. Otherwise call quality, reliability, etc are great.

Tim - I'm another happy 4-year vonage user. Maybe four times a year funny things might happen, like one party can't hear the other, there are echoes, or awful sound quality will occur. 95% of the time a quick hang-up/call-back seems to reset/fix the issue. I really like the online messages, call forwarding features, etc.

I've been using Vonage for about 6 months now, no issues. Before that Time Warner VOIP, which was also fine, just not the pricing after the initial special pricing ended. Paying 14.99 a month for Vonage and loving it! You will be happy Tim. Just make sure they remove the temporary number after your number port is complete. I got so many telemarketer calls.

I hate vonage. Wont allow me to use my Pretty Cisco Color IP phone. I pay just 4 bucks a month for calls (plus .01 cents per min of calls). You need to look into PBXinaFlash. Great software. Can be virtual or a real machine. Got my number (DID from Les.net) Been great so far. Takes some time to setup, I have an IVR, separate voice mail boxes and tons of extensions. I get my home calls from anywhere now.
