|
|
Hello all.
I recently obtained an NEC XG75. When I was testing it on the floor, AKB worked as it should, displaying the singe white line at the top of the screen when on, and no line when off. After reversing the scan and mounting it to the ceiling though, the line is now on all the time. I'd like to turn it off, since it's quite distracting. I have AKB turned off in my main input profile. Any ideas?
Also, the menus, test patterns, and anything else generated in the projector occasionally jitter horizontally. It's an intermittent issue, and not really a big deal. Just wondering if there's anything simple I should check. I reseated all the cards in the main cage at the back.
Thanks!

I'm no expert, but also own an XG (1350) and have experienced the same jittery menus/test grids... I seem to recall seeing something on this forum saying that it was "normal" for an XG to do this... At any rate it's been like this since I bought it (3 years or now) and I've never had a problem with the actual picture.
Others may have better information that contradicts my info though - in which case I would be interested in hearing about it for a possible fix.

Update:
Upon using it further, it seems that I can't control the brightness either (contrast still works). The brightness is low from one of my sources, and it won't let me turn it up. The menu control increases, but the image remains the same.
So both AKB and brightness are unresponsive, even though the menus change.
Any ideas on that?

Success!
I was inspecting the boards for leaky/bulging capacitors, and found that the Test/Normal switch on the Video Output card was set to Test. I guess I had bumped it when I was reseating the cards in the first place (in an effort to prevent problems). Set it back, and the the AKB and brightness controls were restored.
Always nice when it's that simple...
