The System board appears the be the culprit. We swapped Case's system and wave boards into my PG- same PP error. Then 1 at a time and only the system board produces the error. Least we know now which board is bad.
Case says thanks for your assistance gjaky

Thanks Gjaky!! We located the fault as Al said, the only problem now is all my signal entries are on that dead board!!
I tried swapping all the socketed chips, all that did was give me an extra menu option, so Al, we also now know why your 9PG only had a phase menu option when using my system board, and i think it would be interesting to see if replacing the chips on your half bad system board will fix the phase issue you have with your system board.
Your replacement system board didnt have phase either til i put my chips in it.

Curt, is this the kind of problem you think you can fix with a system board?

there is a PC control software, but I don't know if it is compatible with plain PG.. it is able to download and reload the settings, moreover it can tell you more exact error diagnosis than the two led, at the back.
edit: I think you don't have to switch on the PJ to do these operations..

Yeah my PC has no RS232 port though, so its no good to me, it wont matter, i can set up an NEC pretty quick.
One thing i spose is not too bad about having to redo the settings is i think i may have 3 plugs the wrong way around for ceiling mode, cause with all settings at zero, the crosshatch pattern appears to be pushed over abit, as in one diagonal is longer than the other... I dont have a book so i dont know what way the plugs are meant to be for ceiling front mode on the board below the DEF board...

Everything moves the right way with the 4 directions, up moves things up, down moves them down, and left moves them left, right moves them right, so i dont know if i need to change anything there on the convergence board or not....

Thanks
Ive got it all pretty good mechanically, i even re-centered the images on the blue and red cause the linearity moves the pics, it all should still be pretty close!!
I did have alot of trouble with the astig rings on this set especially green, seems i get some pretty rough edge focus on the lower left. I did astig on a Sony 1001 and it took me 20 minutes to get all 3 tubes perfect!! Center of the screen the NEC is perfect, just out from the middle is pretty shocking.
Ive asked the question before about where the focus coils should be on the necks, and where the astig rings should be, cause my set has been played wth by the previous owner ( they didnt mess with the colours though thank god ) so far ive never got any clear answers on what i should do or any other tips on what i should be doing when i set up, and ofcourse ive read all the setup tips, but some items arent covered.
