Hi Craig - That measurement was closer to spec than I expected also.

I tried to eliminate as many variables as possible. The meter was
"self-calibrated" recently - but that may not ensure accuracy.

I aimed into the green lens, and turned off the red and blue channels.

I used a geometric pattern from displaymate to get substantial output
but still had to turn down contrast to avoid overload. The meter seems
very sensitive - I found it was picking up input from various nightlights
and computer leds, and spent a while eliminating the extraneous light
to get the final reading. So - while on test patterns on my (cheap wilsonart)
screen the grn primary seems a little limey - the direct output from the lens
looks pretty good.

Last night I did a set up at 72 Hz and by eye there was more output, perhaps
I will have time to do a comparison to 60 Hz with the meter tomorrow.

But with all the uncertainty with meters, screen types, eyeballs, and expectations -
I think we will have to wait and see what you find out with your topline equipment.

I used to own an eye1 and it is a very strange meter. What I find with them is that the first measurement right after a "dark reading" is usually somewhat accurate. However, each subsequent reading after the first becomes less and less accurate with respect to both luma level and saturation. I found that if one keeps taking subsequent readings, that the luma and saturation will move further and further in the same direction from the first reading after the dark reading. I have forgotten, but I think the eye1 reads darker and darker and less and less saturated the more readings after the dark (but it might be the other way, I sold my eye1 over two years ago). I seem to recall that with green the eye1 also usually reads more blue in the green than is true (but maybe it is less... fuzzy).

Yeah, I was wondering how exactly you got a reading with the eye1 pointed directly into the lens and thought that maybe you used the diffusion attachment. What you did in turning down contrast was a better solution for the saturation measurement because the diffuser may affect the saturation reading, but turning the contrast lower cannot alter the coordinates of the green primary. ie the physical properties of the phosphor and CElement do not change with respect to contrast level Wink

Yeah, any ambient light will influence the meter. Good thing is that unless said ambient light is saturated green, it would have most likely made green appear further under saturated, which would ave obviously caused your green primary reading to be worse.

That's why I ordered a tube Smile

Thanks again for taking the measurements.

Hello Craig,
As already stated through PM, I'm in for one P43 phosphore P19LUG to test it on my G90 Wink

Glad you posted John as I did not get the PM. I will order you one.

Meanwhile I have heard nothing back from the manufacturer. I think they are in trouble with long delays after the disasters. Now it seems Japan needs to bring in bottled water for Tokyo and all 13,000,000 people. My god what a mess they have there Sad
