Normal green LUG tubes are not P43 phosphor, despite
the coincidence in the part # - otherwise you would
never get the correct primary color .... never ever, not
even with a filtered c-element.

LPB03 is a Barco pinout High Res 9" tube - very nice to have!

Another thing that can be used to identify tube types -

High Res tubes will have white/white glass for the
gun assemblies, for both 8" and 9" versions.
(These tubes have Barco pinouts.)

LUG tubes will have white/pink-brn,
LQF tubes (G90 stock) also white/pink-brn.
(These tubes have grid 3 on pin 7 and Barco pinouts.)

Marquee standard res - white/blue

Barco standard res - white/yellow

Would it be possible for you to upload an image showing where to look for the colours you describe above?

Galen,

Thanks for this fantastic information. I should have just asked you about these tubes instead of getting ready to run an experiment Wink I wish I would have thought of you beforehand. Anyway, based on your info I am going to cancel the P19LUG43 test because I am sure you know what you are talking about and I trust your information.

Thanks again, you saved me some serious time.

Maybe later - but the glass supports are integral to the gun assembly, which is in the tube neck,
near the neckboard end, right about where the cpc magnets usually go - maybe harder to see
on some PJ's than others, especially if the area is dusty.

Dave those pics are of High res tubes.

I have a P43 Green phosphor in one of my 8 inch Marquees and even with the HD 145 green lens I was not able to get Green in REC 709 CIE chart location it should be. On my Longbows I get very close. So Galen's info is spot on.

Ok but as obtuse as I am, I am really just trying to figure out what part of that picture we're talking about. Is it those plastic strips on the cathodes? I think it is?

Looks good from the pic, I think I can see some slight wear, how much virgin phosphor is around the wear pattern?

I Can't see any wear on the tube face when I look at it. It just looks snow white. Although it does look like there is in that picture. Question

Except that they are made of glass, not plastic Wink I have had them crack in shipping before so always inspect them before you mount up a new tube.

Man you guys , always give someone something new to worry about don't you. Now I've got wear on new tubes, and cracked GLASS INSULATORS on the cathodes. I won't get perfect 709 green and I need 72hz to make them look good.

Anything else? Laughing

Oh and they were not shipped. I picked them up.I wrapped them in plastic and foam and cardboard and then wrapped them in a quilt to keep them warm. And the were transported in a fine luxury Lincoln Town Car.

you'll need some copper tape to connect the Aquadags (spelling????), for the static discharge to the VNB's, to the bell housing.

LOL Razz

Well, if it is any help, I think Tom might be wrong about the wear. What we may be seeing is the way the light can reflect off the phosphor when light comes in through the sides made of thick glass. So you may not have wear.

To get this topic back on topic: by cranking my contrast up to 90 I managed to get 10 ftL out of my projector. The grayscale is almost flat and the scan lines remain visible.

I think I can go and watch a movie now!
