My biggest gripe with 3D to date is the movies themselves leave much to be desired. The most enjoyable movie I've seen so far in 3D was "A Christmas Carol".

I have Despicable Me but haven't had a chance to watch it yet, as I was burned out on animation pictures and needed a break from them. I am looking forward to Tron Legacy as the previews on the Disney disk looks fantastic.

The high cost of Avatar as caused me to stay away from it until the hardware bundle pricing goes away.

Try How to Train Your Dragon. I saw it in 2D and imagine it would be a pretty good ride in 3D. Despicable Me is way too boring for anyone over 10, in my opinion.

How to Train Your Dragon is another stinking hardware bundle... Thumbs Down I was afraid of that too about Despicable Me...Another reason I haven't watched it yet.

Oh, I didn't know. Eventually they'll unbundle these. I think Cameron said the final cut of Avatar would include the 3D version and be available in 2012.

Yeah, I hear you on that one, total lack of movies in 3D at this point. It is similar to when HD started out and all we could look at in the USA was PBS for three years Smile

My wife and I really enjoyed Despicable Me so hopefully you will have a good time watching that one.

The way I got AVATAR was to buy the bundled Panasonic glasses with the AVATAR BD. I got the bundle new on eBay for $220 shipped. I then listed each pair of glasses separately on eBay as being brand new without original packaging. I sold them quick and wound up with AVATAR for around $50. Still pricey, but I need it for work related demos Wink

I pre-ordered Tron on Amazon... hopefully it is a decent movie.

My wife and I watched How to Train Your Dragon last night. I saw that one in the theater in 3D and thought it was an ok movie. However, last night my wife and I had a fun time watching it (her first time) and I liked it better. I think the 3D looked better on the G90 than what I remember in the theater... but that was nearly two years ago that I saw it.

I'm kicking myself for not being able to make it. From your map, you're just down Lawrence from me.
Unfortunately my wife feels obligated to attend every birthday party of our nieces and nephews.

Hopefully they'll be a next time.

Hi Thomas,

You are welcome to come by some other time since you live so close. Give me a call sometime (phone in signature) and we can pick a time.

Kind regards,

Yeah, I am getting a little excited Smile That's another reason I didn't want to schedule the meet too far out originally.

Can hardly wait!

If you are planning to attend, please send me an email craigr@cir-engineering.com In the email, give me your real name, phone number, and if you are planning to drive your car. I'll write back with my address and help with driving directions and parking instructions. I need to get a really good idea on how many folks are actually coming and I need to make sure I have enough parking permits for you all.

Right now the plan is to open my doors at 12:00 noon. I figure we'll watch, eat, and hang out until around 4:00 PM give or take a little.

See you all soon Smile

I wish I could be there, to see 3D on a CRT would be sweet, I bet it would blow away the excuse of a theater we have here...

I'll be attending in my imagination Razz

I will give some tips on 3D watching while you guys are here, but a few factors include:

- the first few minutes of a session can be disorienting for me and many others.
- sitting too close can be hard on the senses, so sit or stand near the back until you get used to it.
- know that after some "practice" 3D will get easier to watch.
- there are some more, but I haven't had coffee yet today...

See you guys soon!

Please try and bring glasses. If anyone coming knows someone with a 3D Samsung, maybe you can ask to borrow their glasses. And if you own Samsung 3D glasses please do bring them.

Don't forget, if it is possible for you to bring Samsung 3D glasses please bring them. I only have 12 here for the meet, and we can likely do with more!!!

Thanks

Will send you an email in a few

Still doing a bit of juggling as to if I can/will make it.

I should have a shipment of subwoofer drivers to pick up at Mark Seatons this weekend, if they make it to his shop I will make the trip to chicago for the meet and then over to his place to fill the truck up, then head home. If they dont get delivered to him in time, that will mean I have to make the trip to chicago APR 2nd and I am not crazy about the 4hr trip each way 2 weekends in a row.

I will see if Gannon wants to ride over with me

Mark also made a comment last night that he might be interested in stopping over as he didnt hear about it.
