Dont forget about Cedia! Smile

Uh oh, it sounds like there is going to be a big CRT contingent at Cedia this year. I was the only one at last years Cedia. Well, Crabb was there, but he had just gotten a divorce from both his wife and CRT. You should have seen the size of the ring he put around the lens of the JVC 4k. Mr. Green Laughing

Yes as of right now, the east coast gents are planning on coming out for Cedia and I will be having a Cedia meet Smile

It will be my first visit to Cedia but it will be painful because I'm broke and wont be able to buy anything! Laughing

OMG, Cliffy... CEDIA will blow your frickin' mind... And, yes - it will be painful... You have no idea, in fact. I know that pain well because I'm in the same boat... In fact, unless something really cool happens for the wife and me between now and the fall, I'll be lucky if I don't have to sell sh*t on craigslist to scrape together the money just to buy gas to get to Indy.

I hear ya big dog, times are tight big time. I'm going to have to sell some of my things as well to get through the year. I look at it this way, one year at a time Smile

Oh, now come ON!!! You make it sound like I was ready to kick my G70 to the curb. Not so at all! Digital projectors are just really starting to not look like ass, anymore! Wink I'm also starting to really like the idea of box hanging from my ceiling that doesn't wreck the quiet parts of the movie - and watching it on a scope screen.

But, I'm still not ready to give up the rockin' blacks. Not yet, not in the near term. Unless an RS20 falls off a truck and lands in my driveway, it ain't happenin' anyway. No, it's glowing phosphor for the foreseeable future for me!

As for the JVC 4k... Yeah, that was full-on, pure videophile porn... I'd probably trade my left nut for it if there was any content to watch on it! But it doesn't matter... It's like looking at a Ferrari or a supermodel. They're lovely (lusty!) to look at, but I have no illusions about the likelihood that I'll ever be in the company of either for more than a fleeting moment or two. Or, who knows? Maybe I can pick one up at a surplus auction in 2021... A JVC 4k, that is - not a supermodel.
Corrected Wink It will probably be more like 2016 when affordable 4k pjs hit the market. Of course, you won't have any native content, so everything will still be up converted. Well maybe some Red camera stuff and pics. Some of Clarence's shots would look real good on a 4k. Thumbs Up

Man, is there going to have to be a Cedia collection plate passed around? Shocked Mr. Green

Seriously, to anyone that hasn't been to Cedia and loves HT, this is a must attend event. For me, this was the most fun I have had the past two years.

Like most threads, this one has morphed totally off the original topic, which was: attending Craig's CRT 3D demo meet. Craig, let us know when you can schedule this, so we can start signing up. Of the dates you listed, the weekend of April 2 is best for me.

William

All right, after some responses and talking to my wife, it looks like the best time is the last weekend in March. So Saturday March 26th. It has to be before April, and it can't be March 19th.

Who's in?

Dear Craig;

I absolutely cannot go the weekend of March 26. Something about the wife and I meeting the boys to look at buying a beach house in the North Carolina outer banks.

I will continue to monitor the thread to see what weekend the meet actually ends up on, and to see if I can attend.

William

Well, the only weekends that seem to work are the 26th or March and the 12th of March. I am planning the 26th now, so unless the masses cannot make it, the 26th is the plan. Folks, please let me know if you plan to attend on the 26th or if we should reschedule for the 12th.

The other alternative is to cancel the meet all together if this just isn't a good time frame for enough people. If people are interested, but you can't make the meet you are still welcome to come in for a demonstration by yourself at a different time. We could also have two smaller meets.

CEDIA is open for folks to come by. Jim Peterson and his wife will be coming to Chicago after CEDIA to see the system and for entertainment. I don't want to have everyone here the entire time the Peterson's are here, but for a few hours this would also be OK.

Even though I have zero interest in 3D, I will see if I can make it. I will definitely make the time for Cedia. I was planning on probably heading to Indy on Wed and leaving Sun. Before or after that, I should have time to head up to Chicago. Maybe we can have a race.Smile

What you mean Willis! I thought all roads lead to Crown Point where the biggest power drain is; your place!!!

Wouldn't think of going your way and not stopping/staying, that is if Amy will let me back in.. Embarassed

I'll shave my beard and say things like, "That home theater is too loud; No thanks, I don't drink beer." She'll never know it was me.
