I'm considering a slightly older pre-amp processor with DVI switching. Currently, i'm sending HDMI direct from my Panasonic BD-80 to my Moome HDMI card (newest version) and presumably getting HDMI 1.3 at the projector?
My question is if I route the video through the DVI ports will I be losing HDMI 1.3 and getting a lower quality signal at the PJ?

I think it would depend on what the inputs are doing. If it's literally just a passive fixed switch, it should not affect anything.

However, more likely is that it is some kind of active DVI device that passes the signal on, in which case you likely would be reduced to DVI capability.

What's the processor? Might be able to hunt up some details in the manual.

I've not run into very many preamps with DVI switching, btw, seems like a rare one.

I would tentatively assume that it would limit you to DVI unless you tested it otherwise though...

chris thanks for replying, Yes that makes perfect sense. If it's just a digital pass-thorugh or is it "scaling". It appears there's no scaling at all, just switching and transcoding between analog video. i'm great at missing the obvious (forehead slap) Embarassed
It's an outlaw 990, based on a Sherwood newcastle pre-amp. these things were $1100. in 2005 and now their selling off their B-stock for $400. with 1 year warranty. i've always had receivers but this is sooo tempting. Only problem is it doesn't output an on-screen display through the DVI port, which further suggests it's just a switch. Since I'm running HDMI all the way ot the MArquee i'm not sure how I would access the OSD? That would be a deal breaker for me I think.
