Is there a focus voltage applied to Sony tubes in the bg808s? As you know there is a red focus wire from the G2&Focus board but the Barco graphics cross reference spreadsheets show no focus voltage. Surely the focus wire is not just for show?

Yes there is focus voltage applied.

I just plugged those connectors from g2 board when I swapped to MEC tubes. Also removed those red wires from neck cards.

Would you happen to know what that voltage is and why it is needed with EM tubes?

Don't know what voltage there is, but 15kV is coming from quad to that box and there is dropping resistor inside box before focus out connectors.

I think those Sony EM tubes also work without that voltage. If I remember correct Ampros didn't had that voltage applied.

So do Sony EM tubes have a focus gride like Sony ES tubes?
