The screen is upsydown on my Sony VPH-1252Q. I cant celing mount it and I'd rather have it on a coffee table or something so I can move it around when I needed to. Theres no button for it or anything in the settings to flip the screen. I'd just turn the machine over, but the controls and fan vents would be covered. I dont have any cables for it, someone gave it to me I need to find a manual because I don't know how to hook it up to a tv, gaming console, or a computer. The cable inputs are different from anything I have. Where could I find them cheap and what are they? I need as much info on this and help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou!!!!!!! This is my first projector and I know NOTHING about setup, care and operation aside from what I learned messing with it. Very Happy

Welcome to the forum

Curt has a page here with some downloads that will help you:
http://www.curtpalme.com/Sony125x_Downloads.shtm

Your best bet for connecting it to your existing HDMI sources will probably be a Moome card:

Please remember to unplug the power when poking around to flip the screen over.

when I click on to the link to the manual a window pops up and says " do you want to find this file or save it" find takes me to an unrelated page and if I save it "windows dose not reconize the program" Is the screen flip hard to do or do I need detailed instructions? Thanks!

It's not hard, but you need to know where to look. It's three connectors you need to romove, flip, and reinsert into a second set of plugs. Do NOT under any circumstances do it with the projector running.

Try the manual for the Sony 1271 - the scan reversal is the same.

Oh, the manual is just a PDF... Do you no have Acrobat Reader on your system?

Where are these pins and how do I do it? I cant seem to find a site that lets me download a .pdf file opener without paying or regestering for something. Thanks!

Wow this is the quickest responding and most informative forum I've ever been on. Thankyou everyone for your help!!!
Also, what kind of cables can I run so I can use a gaming console or hook my pc up to without replacing the board? I can get a dvd player to work with the s-video jack, but all the other jacks have wierd style pins. What are they called and where can I find them? And theres a VGA jack that says 'remote 2' could a computer connect through that?

Yeah we'll give you anything you need to keep another CRT alive. And make a convert out of you, so you can pass the word.

This should help you figure out what you looking at

http://www.curtpalme.com/CRTPrimer_17.shtm

The funny looking connectors are called BNC and yes you can hook up your computer to the Sony that is what it was built for.

You will nee a VGA Cable and a VGA to BNC break out cable to do it.

Happy reading and welcome Smile

Read Kal's excellent Hooking it all up guide to all the different connections, and how you hook source devices up to these projectors.

Your 1252 should have an interface card with five BNC connectors - that's called RGHBV or 5BNC. You can hook up PC (with VGA output) to that with a simple, inexpensive, VGA-5BNC cable.

As for a console, it depends on the console. Xbox 360 you could hook up with the above cable and a VGA cable for the 360, plus a gender changer. For a Wii, you'd probably want a component input, which would require a transcoder... For a PS3, you could use a component transcoder, or you could get an HDMI to RGB D/A converter like the HD Fury or Moome input card for the projector.

The "remote 2" connector is not for video; it's for serial control.

Excellent! Thankyou everyone my picture is where it should be now! Now I got this thing from someone and I'm wondering what its worth realistically. I know these units retailed for something crazy like $16k+ but a 16 year old piece of electronics is practically a dinosaur by now. Its from 3/95 and the interior is immaculate and dust free so I can only assume it was rarley used. The picture quality is great, so how can I tell how many hours are on this unit or is it just speculation? The unit is huge and I'd like to get something more portable in the near future. I'm slowly falling in love with projectors and I want to be able to move something around easily. I can hardly move this around by myself let alone the basement stairs. So if your in the Long Island,NY area and want this model, its available!

Well If Curt sells his, which are re-furbished and and have a warranty, for $400, it ain't worth much and you also can't sell it here as a working projector.

http://www.curtpalme.com/CRTforSale_EntryLevel.shtm

So if you want to keep it and use it, we're here to help you. But not to bust your chops, no one here is going to help you sell it.
