I've been having this weird problem with my NEC 9PG+ lately. Whenever I'm watching a movie and a quick transition from a bright mostly white image to a darker image happens the image becomes "unstable". It's like it can't handle the change so the screen flickers. Anyone know what might be causing this? This projector is pretty decent, but I think it might be time to find another cause of the problems I have been having with this one.
Also, when using signals through a component cable my green tube seems to drag around bright spots when there is a lot of green on the screen. Should I adjust the kelvin settings or is there a better way to reduce this effect?

I think it is related with beam current, so if it is help to you I would seek something (like bad caps) on the video amp board.
What happens if you disable one of the tubes or turn down the contrast or brightness?

Humm thanks for the info. That might be the clicking sounds I was hearing from my projector for a while. I'll have to take a close look and see if I see anything that went bad.
I'll have to try turning off one of the tubes too, but I think looking for bad caps will be easier.

That clicking noise might be HV arcing, which can be the cause of a lot of strange problems, check as well

Power supply regulation problem. It could be in the power supply or in the neck card.
Probably some caps are about done, and their value is well below what it once was.
Recapping the power supply and neck cards will probably fix it.
