R769056 SM POWER SUPPLY 2 + G2

These boards are different in normal 1209s.

R762271 MAGNETIC FOCUS & HOR. SHIFT
R762271S SUB UNIT VH/P

R7621065 SM MODE POWER SUPPLY
R762106S SUB UNIT STBY

R762120 SM POWER SUPPLY 2 + G2

Don't know if that matters...

How about controllers software?

if you can`t focus i would try to get my hands on a regular focus module.

R762271 MAGNETIC FOCUS & HOR. SHIFT according to ile.
make sure you can change out just the one focus module, maybe more boards should be swapped in order to make the regular focus module work.

should not be be très cher.

then, like ile said it`s almost certainly the controller software.
maybe it`s possible to flash it via the rs232 port.

look if you can focus for a dome curved screen by moving a white piece of paper from the side of the screen towards the pj.
if it focusses approx 50cm or 60cm and more towards the projector then you have your answer i would think.

Since this has a SEOS logo that comes up when it comes on is it possible that the software could limit the amount of focus?
This is the software version.
R7625115 CONTROLLER (ASIC) rwiV5.10 ctrl#1209V7.14
Would someone have a set I could swap to see if any difference?

nah, that can`t be it btw, the focus should be good on the tubeface, it`s the lenses that are different for extremely curved screens and the geometry controls that have a wider range for these kind of screens.

how are the tubes mounted in their housings and how are the lenses attached to the housing?

you indicated that the geometry controls have a wider range, is it possible that they could have limited these controls?

There is very little range on the outer zones focus controls on a normal 1209S.
And there is no reason for seos to limit focus, the focus has to be good on the tube face
no matter what the optical setup. If I were you, I would first check my cpc magnetic setup
to be certain the dots are round and the energy is centered and that they do not move during focus ramp.
Use an external pattern (displaymate) for the dots - internal patterns are no good. Once that is perfect, go to zone astig
in the service menu and set everything to 50 then go to focus menu to set zones, then go back to zone astig
and do not worry about dot shape, set for best focus in each zone - then go back to focus zones,
then revisit optical focus and flapping, and repeat. Logically, you have changed boards and have
been working on this for a year - there must be some overlooked basic setup issues?

poor astig setup could lead to not so good side focus but even with a poorly setup astig you should be able focus to some degree.

please post a picture of your grid lines to know what exactly you mean by cannot focus.
