i had a mishap with a ecp4500, and my insurance replaced it with a sony ruby. i'm guessing your insurance will want to replace it with a new jvc.

This is why you should be sure to list your HT equipment by brand, model, and serial for insurance purposes. Many policies allow you to make line item lists of items to be covered.
Of course many of them are gonna choke when they get the new item replacement cost of your 9500LC, but as they ARE available new,
and the policy generally does specify identical replacement if available, and comparable replacement if the identical model is no longer
available, then if they tried to trade you a digital flashlight for your CRT projector, you could probably beat them in court.
Any 9" projector would be replaced by a new 9500LC as it's the comparable replacement.
Any 8" projector would be replaced by an 8500 or 8500LC.
As for the damaged projector, water won't hurt the tubes themselves. The lenses may survive, too, but may need partial disassembly
and a good and careful washing. The main lens assemblies should be watertight or darned close to it.
Be sure to ask to keep the PJ for scrap value. And then you have spare tubes as backups for your new ones.
I would not want to have to call the insurance company for system replacement, but it would be a nice day when my new Krell amp
arrived, my new 9500LC arrived, and my new Aerial Acoustics 20T speakers arrived.
