|
|
Some may know we have had a major natural disaster in my area of QLD Australia, I've gotten off lightly with only my cinema flodded "go figure" My Dad got his flat flooded out in an inland tsnami , like furniture floating out the door.
I feel really bad ringing the insurance company for my minor problem , after all there are houses floating down the street. But watter has gotten into my roof an saturated the carpet and 9500 projector , couch etc. when I took the case off the projector water poured out , so I'm tryin to write it off. Has anyone ever claimed insurance on a crt before , my policy says new for old replacement, but seeing a 9500 went for $40K or something like that new , I really doubt the Insurance is going to spring for that. I just hope they are not going to make get some sh*ting little digital as a replacment and seeing the used value of a marquee is pretty low , I'm not sure what to expect . I'm so pissed off I just got my marquee all fixed up and looking great and BAM gone
Any Ideas guys would be greatly appreciated.

Marquees are still available new. Just give them the cost. Dont forget to include shipping and installation.

yep, VDC. Ask Charlie or nathan for a price list.
they can email it to you. you might want to send them your serial number so they can quote you on an exact replacement.

Hmm then leave it out I guess. take pics for proof to the insurance company, but if worse comes to worse the tubes should be fine, swap out the magnetics from the 8500 if that is what they send you.

I would ask for a replacement, talk to Tim Martin as I'm not sure that VDC will sell retail.
I'm guessing about $43K retail for a 9500 Ultra, $34K for an 8500 last I heard. Get a written quote from the insurance company.

What a bummer man. That's my kind of luck too. Either I get something I've been wanting and something happens to it or I get something I already own finally put right and then comes the Great Flushing sound.
The insurance company for my homeowners doesn't offer 1:1 replacement. Not many do in this neck of the woods even though I'm nowhere near a flood plain or problem flood areas. Still, my deductible for anything is only $1000 USD so yeah, I'll take a $43K USD 9500 for a grand!
The carpeting in my HT is industrial, but nice feeling and looking, dark blue 24"x24" panels with a subtle circular pattern. Easy enough to pull it up, dry it, and lay it back down with Liquid Nails. I went the tiling route because the basement slab gradation to the sump pump goes right through the theater.
I wish you all luck and prayers down there.

The funny thing is , My area has never flooded in history and is on the top of a mountain , go figure . The insurance company being smart arses covered my dad for Tsunami and not flood damage , as if a tsunami would ever hit 100 miles inland , but whats that coming down the street a F*KIN TSUNAMI
200 metres from my house , my 2 year old girl was stranded for 2 days at the daycare 100 metres from this we were cut off from her for 2 days , very scary stuff . But were all safe now , it's is a massive disaster for Australia , its usually Bush fires for us which is the norm but this is something else

woah. man i am glad you are so very safe. those 2 days without your little girl must have been hair raising.
as for the insurance, back around '92 i broke an $800 dollar cartridge. called insurance and i had replacement so they did. i know how you feel about "others have it worse" as the same week i toasted the cartridge a tornado ripped through Barrie Ontario and destroyed a whack of the city (not your usual tornado area). so you had families with suddenly nothing left dealing with the insurance companies and i felt like a schmuck asking for them to cover my extravagance.

Chris Nuttal (Nutall? Nuttall? sorry Chris!) had a total loss of his 9500LC and had full replacement, and got a new(?) replacement. This was maybe two years ago.

good to hear you are all well! I have Family in Brisvegas and although they didn't see any were near what you guys got they still have major flooding.
I don't know what your insurance Co. will want to do but "Bruce09" on this forum had bought some of those like new longbow projectors about a year ago and might still have one for sale- the difference in the price on a cash settlement might allow you to upgrade a LOT of your theater.

I can't imagine being seperated from my kids in a natural disaster, you must have been worried sick.
