Moome sold out of his NEC XG-FULLHD HDMI 1.3 cards a few months ago and has not made another batch due to lack of interest.

Today I've had 2 people email asking to purchase one.

So I've started a poll so that Moome can gauge the interest level. Vote if you're interested. No need to vote if you're not interested. (Polls require at least 2 options).

I was gonna say, I've had two customers express interest in the last month, not sure if they are the same people that emailed you though.

To be honest an XG doesn't have the bandwidth to exceed the HDMI 1.3 standard, 1.4 would really get you nothing IMO.

Is that the case with the Marquee cards also? 1.3 is the limit?

I spoke incorrectly both 1.3 and 1.4 support pixel clock rates of 340Mhz. HDMI 1.4 adds max resolution of 4096×2160p24hz, ethernet and some 3D stuff. In any case it would be highly unlikely an XG would benefit from the new standard. I've tried running 3d on my XG using 720p@120Hz. It did work but I did get some ghosting and the image was very dim because of the glasses.

I'd was going to buy one when I saw they buy it at $299 price and wasn't sure they were actually sold out because the 'buy it' link was still active. Not sure if its worth it for moome to make another batch if he sold them at $299.
Since I just bought a blueray player for Xmas and keep a steady supply of blueray movies coming in from netflix I'd like to use my XG135 in full 1080p HD now.

I usually send between one and three clients hear each year (counting three last year) to buy one, so I vote yes as we still need these. I have quite a few clients with NEC or Runco equivalents that are using this newest card now and I am sure new clients will continue to come out of the woodwork as they always do. I suggest that Moome keep ten or more of these all the time as they will sell. There are some very nice high end NEC projectors that can give any 9" a run for their money. The best NEC and Runco projectors may only be 8" machines, but they are under regarded as they are some of the best performing CRT projectors out there.

As far as HDMI 1.3 and 1.4, don't even worry about it. The only thing one might think he needs HDMI 1.4 for a CRT is to run 3D on CRT. This is easily circumvented by moome with 1.3 because all moome needs to do is have the EDID instruct the source that the projector is 3D capable. That is what he is doing with the new EXT and the new Sony and Marquee IFB's that are coming soon. The cards already have plenty of BW for 3D CRT.

Furthermore, the only two ways to get BD-3D on CRT are with the New Lumagen Radiance processors that support frame-sequential output modes or with a HTPC that supports FS modes. With either a Lumagen or HTPC you can override the EDID and send FS 3D to the projector no matter what EDID is in the card so it again makes no difference.

craigr

How many does he need for an order to make it worthwhile cranking a batch out? Any chance of addressing the image wraparound issue at 1080p with the XGs?

I would suggest that Moome make at least ten at a time or whatever number he thinks in order to keep cost and financial risk down. However, I also think that Moome could raise the price a little if he needs to as an incentive.

I don't think the 1080p wrap around can be addressed in the card Curt. I can fix this with a video processor like the Lumagen Vision or Radiance, but a stand alone 1080p device lacks the necessary timing controls to address this. The blanking intervals need to be increased and the total horizontal pixels need to go up to accommodate this. The card can't really do that.

kal,

Any idea of the timeline on this poll and finding out if there will be a new batch?

Looks like the HDFury is my only other option. (Or are there other options for getting HDMI in?)

Thanks for the effort.

Nope. Let me email Moome and ask him to post here if he's (a) interested, and (b) can provide timeline.

Hi,
I've emailed with Moome and he said that he would sell to me one of his DVI cards for the projector. From my limited understanding, DVI input is just as good as hdmi.
I only need one input connector as I'm doing the switching with a Denon AV receiver. I've got an HDMI->DVI cable already that I can use.
Has anyone had any experience using Moome's DVI card, especially as it compares to the fullhd 1.3 hdmi card?

The video performance with the older DVI cards is not nearly as good as with the HDMI FULLHD. Depending on what projector you have, it may or may not matter to you. The FULLHD has much better bandwidth and can fully reslove 1080p 60Hz where the DVI card cannot. The filtration on the FULLHD is also much cleaner so less noise gets into the image.

I've been toying with the idea for some time now. It's either this or an hdfury3, and considering I have to order from overseas for the hdfury3, this seems like the better option.

I voted yes as I have an XG 1100 that uses the DVI card, and while the DVI Card (after getting it to work) works fine to a point, I would much much rather have the HDMI card for the projector. I wanted to buy one when I saw he wasnt going to make anymore of these cards, but money is tight and $300 on a card to enhance my video experience ever so slightly is a big leap for me, especially on an NEC XG, if it were a 9" CRT Like a G90 or barco then it would be a no brainer.

I hope moome puts out another batch so I can get another chance at getting one of these cards, I love my XG and it deserves HDMI more than these cheap ass $300 flat panels do.

So moome, please do make another batch! You can consider one sold if you do! Mr. Green
