Hey Guys,

We went to check out our local Salvation Army store that opened over Christmas and I think I got a pretty good deal.

They had a 15" ELO Touchsystems touch screen LCD monitor with a mini PC for $50. I grabbed it and now want to explore my options putting it to use. The PC is nothing special, it's a PIII 850Mhz with 256mb of RAM, slim CD drive, floppy drive and no hard drive. If it turns out to be too old to put to use that's fine as I have a few Pentium 4 systems sitting unused right now.

My plan right now is to setup this monitor wall mounted in our shop connected to a mini PC running either Windows Media Center or hopefully some audio only media frontend that will work nicely with the touchscreen. I'll be checking out the Car PC forums to see if there might be a better software choice.

The music will either be stored locally or streamed over my network, most likely stored locally for speed and reliability...

The only set in stone requirement is that the software works well with a touchscreen and will be able to playback WMA, MP3, and FLAC.

Any recommendations? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Erik

XBMC...not sure about finding drivers for the touchscreen though.

Sweet price if it works!

I'll give XBMC a try, if it work well on a PIII I think I'll be set, I'll max out the RAM, add a PCI video card and see how it works.

I'll have to do some more research on the touch screen, looks like it should connect just like an old serial mouse, hopefully I'll get lucky and it won't need any special drivers! As far as working I don't know yet as I don't have the communication cable but the display itself works fine and the picture is nice and clean, either it was rarely used of they did a heck of a job making these monitors hard to scratch.
