Hello Guys!
A customer sent in a and old mitsubishi medallion 65" bigscreen to the shop the other day and then decided she did'nt want to send it out to the repair shop to fix it. She was told the green tube was bad and bought a used replacement which she also sent with it in case anyone was interested in trying to fix it for them selves. I decided to give it a shot. The first thing i noticed after pulling the lens was that half the glycol was gone. I could'nt really find any trace of it on the bottom of the chassis or on the boards so i went ahead and pulled it. I switched the magnetics to the replacement tube. the coils looked nice and shiny with no evidence of burns or corrosion. Thats when i put my hands on the old tube neck for the first time and got traces of glycol on my fingers. Some of the tape on the neck had absorbed glycol.
So is it worth a shot to put this tube in or am i gauranteed to have some bad coils on my hands? Coincidentally another tv of the same series came in a few days later. It was almost identical except it was the 2002 model that replaced this 2001 model. I pulled the entire tube assembly out in one piece with all wires and it looks like it would pop right in. The tubes are exactly the same and nearly mint.
So my options are:
a) put in the replacement tube with the old possibly bad magnetics
b) replace the entire tube assembly with one from a slighty newer (possibly incompatible?) model

What do you guys think?

Craig Rounds would be the Man to know for sure. he is the Mitsu Guru.

he might have the manual for that chassis too.

the model im working on is WS-65819 made in december 01'. the tube assembly is from a WS-65411 from october 02'. the more i look at it the more indecisive i get. Now i'm wondering if maybe it would be easier to pull the blue and green tubes and put them in rather than to attempt putting in the whole assembly. Lots of wires!

I checked both manuals and the crts have a slightly different part number but the pinouts are the same. However the voltages maybe different so I would not suggest a swap without further investigation of voltages.

That's funny the stickers on the tubes showed the same number. I looked at the assembly a little closer. The coils have slighty different part numbers as well, though they do look identical. also i just found a spot on one of the boards where the glycol leaked about two inches wide or so. So now it could be the coil or the board. I went ahead and put in the replacement tube with the old coils with no luck. the tube displays a bunch of faint horizontal blobs but thats about it. Any idea how i can find the voltages?

If the number on the tube decal is the same then it should work. What is the tube decal number?

P16LSG03HKA with the last three letters being the designator for green. I wiped off the glycol spot with a paper towel and it was spotless underneath so i think i'm back to figuring out if the coils are compatible. Let me ask you this though, I'm just trying to get this thing working so i can flip it on craigslist or something where it would go for $300 or $400. Assuming i can source the coils, i'm betting they would cost more than the tv is worth. So is there really any harm in just putting in the whole green tube assembly in and giving it a whirl?

Since both tubes have the same number then I would assume the deflection coils would be the same.
