I don't think I would like to take the chance at renting out a Jeti no matter how much I might want it. Wink

Kal,
Do I have to get the Pro software to rent the probes out or is the standard software ok?

"I put the PCMI card or what ever it is in my lap top and it says it needs to be formatted so i know the contents are gone. i was hoping the file was there and I could extract it and then re format the card and re install the calibration file and Software for the probe."

Use a recovery program. They are made exactly for a situation like this.
Should be many free alternatives out there.

The thing is David it asks if I want to format this disc. With a recovery program I am not sure if it will need that to be reformatted. Any one know what i should try? also the lap top that has the built in Card slot is an old winbook running windows ME. so it have to be able to run on that.

I have used Ontrack EasyRecovery Pro on a few occasions.
No you don't have to to anything with the card, in fact you should NOT do anything with it that incorporates writing to it.
So never leave it in when booting up windows.

You could always boot a live CD with the software needed and rescue the data to a USB stick.

Look at this
http://www.easeus.com/resource/memory-card-format-recovery.htm

Or maybe this
http://www.datarecoverytools.biz/datarecoverytools/memocard.html
Not sure what the trail lets you do.
Or this

You're not the first to think about renting meters... I've been asked before.

You would require a ChromaPure Professional licence for what you want to do since it’s commercial use (renting it out to others).

The Pro licence lets you add any number of meters and has other features too.
For more information see our ChromaPure page here: http://www.curtpalme.com/ChromaPure.shtm

I've had others ask about getting together with 2-3 friends to buy a meter. No problems there. The Standard ChromaPure licence is ok with that.

That is what I figured and I am ok with that. Now, I would have to decide which package to go with. I think I want to at least have an i1Pro. One other thing I can add to the rental options is using the i1Pro for offset of the customers lower priced instrument.

Did anyone actually follow through with renting a meter or did the cost become an impediment to them? As for getting together with a couple of people, that is a great idea, but I don't have anyone to get together with down here. That is a great idea for someone like Crabb, who can get together with his Iowa buddies.

Eric, I think someone on AVS posted about renting a meter(i1 Pro) in the NCY area. It was a one week rental program. he used it to profile his Display 2 . I remember that after the profile he tested again a few months later and the profiled probe was still close.

I would do a week rental. From my experiance you need that much time cause "life" happens and you might not get it done right the first try.

Was that from an individual or Calman? I know they offered a rental program with the Munki (?). The problem with Calman is the cost of the rental is like half the cost of the meter. You might as well buy the thing outright.

You make a good point about time. I had been thinking about three days or a week. I may do both for different price levels.

it was from a test equipment rental place. I forgot what the name of the place was.

The guy who sold the PR650 i have now is selling another one. But that one is also in the S/N range that PR will not service any longer. Every time I think about that policy it burns me up, forcing people to buy the latest PR655 instead.

Bull sh*t!

Wow, I didn't know it had been around that long. In their defense, that is kind of a long time to support a product. I know what you are saying and I agree if it is nothing more than a file and it isn't costing them anything, then it shouldn't be that big of a deal for them to give it to you. I would say your best bet might have been to say that their stance was preventing you from working and you were going to have to take them to court.

Not a possibility, Each S/N is registered to the owner. this Owner Died so I can't even have him get it for me. If I was the original owner of record I think they might have given it to me, I think that is what they thought when I called. The one girl slipped I think when i thought i heard her say your name doesn't match up with out record or something. She had a heavy accent and I couldn't understand to well, when I asked her to repeat I heard another in the back ground say something, then she said sorry its just too old etc.
