f*ck me, I go on a trip and everything falls apart while I'm out of touch. Its too bad they banned CW and AB, both were valuable contributors there. Unfortunately everyone loses when guys like that get banned as they were helping to bolster the usually abysmal s/n ratio over there. It amazes me when they let jagoffs do nothing but troll and spread disinformation but they'll ban someone who actually knows what they're talking about. I'll probably get banned for expressing my opinion...

Well damn, I feel special. I've had a couple of posts deleted, but was really surprised I didn't get a nastygram over there when I told a 58 year old guy that he was way too old to be a father to newborn twins (wife is in her late 30s).

I got a bunch of responses as 'I can't believe Curt said that', and the guy I directed the post at PMed back and forth a bit. In the end I apologized, but told the target via PM that I wouldn't retract my stance about someone in his late 50s being a dad. Smile

Curt, a guy I went to high school with was 18, his father was 72. His father got a new wife and had a new baby...yes at 72.

I remember that. I think you made some valid points, but people would rather act offended and get all emotional rather than realize you weren't attacking him personally, just making observations about having children that late in life. FWIW I thought you were spot on Smile

Sorry, but to me that's as f*ck*** up as Hef marrying a 24 year old. How the hell are you going to play ball with your teenage son when you're in your 60s or 70s? That's what I asked the guy at avs, and he claimed his genes were great, and his father and grandfather were all very active in their 70s.

Turns out his wife had some life theatening disease for the first few years of their marriage. He asked: 'So, should I not have kids as a result'? I left it alone, but IMHO 'YES, YOU SHOULD THEREFORE NOT HAVE KIDS. Smile

I don't know what set David Bott off oh about 2005-2006 but he went ballistic. He put "the man with the gun" in charge of the CRT forum and members started dropping like flies. I think that's what prompted Curt to start this forum.
To this day I don't know why I was banished Thumbs Up

There's a crapload of people in the high end forum that are also gone and formed their own forum somewhere. It was a bunch of guys that hated getting into the 'speaker cables make all the difference' topics, and then have guys like me come along and call them idiots. Razz

Aussie Bob - he hung out a lot in the 2.35:1 CIH forum discussing anamorphic lens design. He is REALLY smart on that stuff...designed his own lens that appears to be legitimate optical competition for the Isco 3. I guess the powers that be didn't like the quite objective comparison (lots of measurments and useful metrics) that GetGrey did between the Isco and AB's lens, because AB's did quite well at a lower price point. Losing him is going to be a major loss of extensive knowledge for the forum.

I guess I'm just a lightning rod in my 0.0001% of such posts.

You try to ignore people like that, but in the course of twenty thousand posts, one says some flippant, silly, or argumentative things. Such is life.

It makes me want to agree with Ronholm about a bunch of namby-pambies getting their tender feelings boo-booed. Shocked

I didn't follow your posts over there at all... and given as much as I enjoy(ed) debating with you.... I have to call BS on this... but I only know what you posted during our exchanges... maybe I just push your buttons just wrong, or right.... or whatever.. Laughing I could be very wrong and you might be the most polite and pleasant guy on the planet when having 'on topic discussions...

But I still laugh when I remember this one...

When was this? I only knew of CAVX and I met him at Cedia. I didn't see his lens, but those that did said it was nice.

AB has been working on his lens - called both the Crystalmorphic 5E and the XEIT 5E - for the past year or year and a half. His production model is more recent, and the comparo that GetGrey did was probably posted 2 weeks ago on AVS. It looks like it's since been deleted. However I'm sure if you contacted GetGrey outside of AVS, he could point you in AB's direction.

AB and CAVX were loosely associated with eachother at one time (AB got CAVX turned on to cylindrical lenses), but it seems there's been some bad blood there recently for whatever reason. I generally try to stay out of that drama but it seems like CAVX didn't like the competition that AB's lens is going to offer, nor did he like having another cylindrical lens out there that is superior to his. Just my perception, so take it for what it's worth. Of course CAVX is still at AVS and AB is not.

Hmmm, interesting. As I said before, AVS stands for sales. Maybe Kal can get him to come over here, but how many people here are interested in these lenses.
