Our measures experiments were done on a VDC Marquee Ultra and only on the G tube. Measuring the G lines with a micrometer, we found that the width or the line reduced in size from 20% (at low contrast) to 50% (at 100% contrast).

Terry, do you forsee and problems running a marquee at contrast 70-80? ie. other than wearing the tubes faster, will there be any detrimental effect to the rest of the projector?

Gino,

IMO as long as you have the color balance (grey scale) set for it I don't think it should be a problem.

Earlier in this topic the electrical parameters of the various yokes are listed, and comments on their performance are also in there as well,
and if they were cut and pasted into a single reference sheet it would be handy. I do know that some people have found yokes that
are physically very similar to the 2211s but gave unsatisfactory performance as their designed magnetic and inductive parameters were
clearly way different.

All KD magnetics taken from EM focus AmPros are good candidates for mods WITHOUT astig.

Sony 1292 yokes are candidates for all Marquees WITH astig. These are KD 22-22 types, or similar.

I have found that the inductance value of the dynamic winding really isn't all that critical. I rewound ONE yoke in a set of three
to match the electrical parameters that Scott gave me, and frankly I can't tell which one is the rewound yoke in the projector.
Yet its original value was a THIRD of that inductance value.

I have the 22-22 equivalent yokes. Same model # as what Gino recently got. Maybe I should go back through the thead and see if there is a how-to on checking it's values to make sure these yokes are still top performers.

When a yoke gets near another magnetic device even for just a short while, it can have a permanent effect on it's values from what I have read.

Permanent if you don't have a way to remagnetize them, that is....

When I get a spare day during the week, I HOPE that I'll be able to ask Scott to check out the mag field strength of my 1292 yokes
and see if they're adjustable, using a spare 22-11 as a test mule. If his gadget will readjust a 22-11, it'll readjust a 22-22.

CJ
get a set of yokes from a Barco and have him check them? Of they are different see if he can readjust them.
The Barco yokes are much more plentiful.

OK, since you guys didn't post a list of yokes, I've gone through all of mine, and here's what I've found.

There seem to be two distinct yoke sizes all those molded plastic KF-XXXX ones that are rivted together. Then there are yokes with astig and with no astig windings:

Small with astig windings:

KF- 1916C
I've got two sets with no markings at all, but they look like 1916Bs

Small ones without astig windings:

KF-1916B

Large ones with astig windings

KF 22-22 (I have no stock of these)
KF 3203
KF 3205

Large ones without astig windings:

KF 22-11
KF 2206

Once you guys fill me in as to whether the above will make an improvement, I'll post what I have in the for sale section.

Nope, none of those numbers at all, I can post pix of you want. I know one set came off a 1209s (no idea how, I've never scrapped one of those!), the rest are off Barco 1200, 808, 1208 and Ampros.

are they like this?

Pin # Ohm reading
2-4 3.3ohms
3-5 0.95ohm
6-8 3.3ohms
7-9 0.95ohm

Guys!

I have not followed this closely but it appears that some Sony yokes are without stig (dot roundness) correction so, if you lack that, which is rather important, what have you gained?

Not only that, but honestly, I would rather run FrankenYokes WITHOUT astig windings on an 8500 than run the STOCK yokes WITH astig windings on an 8500. I believe that you gain more in total picture quality than you lose that way.

I woudn't say that if I hadn't actually tried it.

I just did the magnetics on my 8500 and got such a nice round dot with out useing the electroninc astig adjustment. so i agree with CJ you really dont need them.

I think this market may get a tad less competive since I believe all members of the "Blending Posse" (8022 / & Marquee owners) that had interest have procurred VPH-1292 yokes. That was 6 complete sets!! None to my knowledge came from HammerHead.
