Hello!
I did convert two of these machines to fp. Check RVP 4010 here in the forum if you are interrested in details. But the big change has started now, because the HD215 lenses will be changed including the C-Element to use the 117-24. Finally, I did remove the plates that hold the green CRT and kept the tube in position with cables. So I could remove the old C-element, Glycol and glue a Barco Element in without removing the tube. It old one was of a very different shape than my G70 elements or the barco ones, but silicon did the job. That was done with the projector standing upright. Then I did put the projector back in itīs normal position on the floor, to fill in the glycol. I did leave a small space on what is now with the projector on the ground 12 oīclock between tube and C-Element. I did put a coin between Element and tube when glueing it together. So when I removed the coin, I received some space to fill in the glycol with a syringe to the to to level of the C-Element.
But there is a big flaw in my process! When I turn the Projector in itīs ceiling mounted position, the glycol is going somewhere, so that the tubeface is not covered on about 20 percent anymore. I guess itīs running into the pressure tank.
First question:
Can I run some test how my 117-24 lenses work now, when the projector is floor mounted? The tube face is as far as I can see covered with glycol in that position. Just a tiny bubble on the top of the Element.
Second:
Can I open these pressure tanks (my pictures) and fill glycol into the chamber, and then close them again? What is exacly inside these Sony expansion tanks? Can they be resealed?
This would save this tube (chamber) for ceiling mount, and make it a lot easier for me to fill the other ones after I have changed the C-Element.
Thatīs because i dont want to remove tubes, and the pressure tanks can easily be reached.
Thank for your help, and best regards from Munich
Marc
