|

Hey Guys,
I have an interesting problem with the video output on my HTPC that's aggravating to no end.
I was messing around with Powerstrip trying to set 1920x800p @ 72hz and somehow managed to set 1920x800p @ ~180hz. Obviously my G70 will not sync to this resolution nor will any of the other displays I have. Simple enough fix I thought, plug in my LCD monitor, restart the PC and have it auto-detect and reset the resolution...
This worked fine and it output the correct resolution to the LCD, I was then able to switch back to my G70 at the same resolution and then switch the resolution back to 1920x800p @ 72hz. But when I restarted the PC again it reverted back to ~180Hz and I had the scrolling, scrambled mess all over again.
Right now I'm pretty well tempted to just nuke the whole mess and start clean but if anyone has a tip or trick to try that will reset the default resolution throw it at me.
Erik

Erik,
Try using system restorer and going back to a restore point prior to the problem. If that doesn't work un-installing the video driver and or PowerStrip so it reverts back to the Microsoft Driver, then reinstall the video driver.

For it to go back to ~180Hz doesn't it need that configuration to exist? Why not delete it? Mind you I have not touched PS in many years and do not have an HTPC.

ctrl-alt-s will go back to default. it's like the "oh sh*t" key. I used it a lot when playing with 1080i.
EDIT: found a few more online;
"backspace" key - undo, cancels last adjustment.
"ALT-R" key combination - resets display , continue.
"escape" key - reset and close display.
PowerStrip safe mode hot key - Ctrl+Alt+S
