Should I unplug the projector when not in use. Even though it is "off", I still hear the fans going...

Hello
If you send in your low voltage power section for our E-Tech fan noise mod, you will not hear the fans.

-Greg | no, un-plugging and re-plugging will eventually crack the solder joints where the IEC socket connects to the circuit board. Get yourself a simple $30. Isobar surge-protector with on-off switch to kill the power after veiwing.

I was planning to put a switch on the outlet... I only use it on the weekend, so it is okay to have it in "standby" during the week?

-Greg | you mean push the standby button and leave it running? I wouldn't do that, it's really video mute and machine is fully powered up.
You can simply turn itt off and leave it plugged in until you get the a switch. Won't hurt anything
