Looks like the hdfury forum is gone. Hopefully someone here can help me out. I purchased and received a hdfury3 from monoprice.com last week. I'm using it with my new AppleTV.

I noticed 2 issues.

1. While AppleTV is on sleep, hdfury3 is still trying to send a signal to the tv and I'm seeing white flashes every 2-3sec. I would hate to have to unplug the power hdfury3 or AppleTV. But say I turn off my tv, is there any harm with hdfury3 being up and running 24/7?

2. Though it says images will be centered automatically when output via component, it is not. While on the Netflix video page info, it is shifted slightly to the left and cropped. The +/- buttons only work with VGA per documentation. It is fairly annoying esp part of the info/desc is missing on the page. Any way around this?

Thanks.

You'll need to contact Monoprice, as that's where you bought it from.

The unit I bought from monoprice.com has "curtpalme" imprinted on it, which is why I posted it here.

Your lucky as of Dec 1 the fury 3 is no longer sold in the US/CA. As for leaving the fury turned on that should be fine. Not sure about the Netflix problem... The Fury is not sending a signal to the Apple TV while in standby but just the opposite.

I know hdfury is not sending to AppleTV, but it is sending to the tv itself Smile

I was hoping hdfury itself has some sort of sleep mode but I'll plug the power into the switched outlet of my receiver. So, at least when my receiver is off, hdfury will be off as well. Not a bad compromise, but I really wish they can enable via firmware update such that the +/- buttons can also move the screen in component.

I was lucky to snag one of the last ones for $216 though they pm it to $180 since they (monoprice) lowered it to $180 a few days after I purchased mine.

Then again, I'm thinking of buying a 60" DLP projection for $600 (which would be $400) which had HDMI and component in. I might still end up doing that and return the hdfury within the 30days.

Australia has a bizzare relationship with American copyright laws, we signed a Free Trade Act with the USA making us liable under those laws, there has been one test case where a person was extradited to the US for trial , for violations of US copyright that occured within Australia , now that is plain wrong.

I agree with the earlier comments that the content providers are out of touch with the market . I have no interest in buying a new display to play blu-rays but would be happy to buy blu-rays if I could display them on my old display.
As it is I only needed a HDfury so that I could display the receivers' menu on screen , a bit strange that onkyo chooses to HDCP the setup menu Smile !!

Ultimately we could only hope that this nonsense leads to the death of the current industry and it is replaced by one in tune with their customers and current technology.

wtfddk, it's not really about the Blu-rays, it's about the TVs and surround sound systems. If you're not willing to pay for a new display they don't care because others are.

The level of backlash after 1 January when people find their Blu-rays at 480i/576i will determine how far they're willing to push things in future. My best guess is a few people will grumble but most will either ignore it, not notice or buy a new TV. Many people have their 40" LCD TVs plugged in via composite cables and never see a thing wrong with that.

Just the fact that they buy LCD , which is average at best in the first place or even HDMI which itself has a pretty average technical spec.

Haha...Now that's funny! I'm not sure I would blame progressives.

The whole thing is idiotic; if anyone wants to make perfect copies it’s far easier to use other means then using any of these devices. It's obvious it's being driven by lawyers with no technical knowledge.

You are absolutely correct that they no nothing about the industry they are "allegedly" helping to protect nor do they care. Always keep in mind that all they REALLY care about is the ENORMOUS fees they will collect in doing so.

I think if someone here knew the answer they would post it. If I'm reading the specs correctly the image shift via component is automatically set. Only in RGB mode can you manually adjust R/L image shift. It sounds like the source or display is the problem here not the Fury. If it is a defective Fury call Monoprice. Try setting the display to RGB then you can use image shift to solve the problem....

You never even mentioned what display device you are using ?

It is an old Sony 50" rear projection (3 lamps) I purchased in 2001. Don't recall the model # off hand. I've hooked up the AppleTV via HDMI to a 42" Toshiba LCD and there's no shift in the image.

I've hooked up a Wii via component to Denon receiver and out to Sony RPTV via component and the Netflix client doesn't exhibit any shift either.

Only when I hookup AppleTV to HDFury3 (HDMI) to Denon (component) and out (component) to Sony RPTV, there's a shift.

If HDFury3 is allowing +/- shift via buttons on VGA, no reason why it is not doable or allowed in component. Obviously, there's an issue or compatibility with HDFury and certain displays. Otherwise, they wouldn't have added those buttons.

Just my $0.02. If it cost $30, I'll probably ignore it and just live it. We are talking about ~$200 here. I guess you'll still advice that I deal with monoprice.

I would have originally, but the packaging says to download the manual from you guys in order to save trees and also the unit, as I've mentioned, says curtpalme.

I have a Mits 65903 with the HDF2 which also has the left shift "issue." Apparently, it is deemed normal on some sets due to timing. I managed to get into my service menu, go to my deflection jungle settings (geometry) and changed my horizontal position to the right to center it more. Now if I were to use another source without the HDF2, then my screen would be shifted to the right - BUT, now a days, ANYTHING that will be HD going to this set will be via HDMI->HDF2 since I moved my HD Tuner (with RGB output) to another display.

Anyway, my HDF2 is also on 24/7. You should be able to power it via USB port on the source device and when you turn off the device, the HDF will turn off. I have my HDF2 plugged into my DTV receiver so when I shut off the receiver, the HDF2 shuts off. It's usually on, though. I usually don't turn it off.
