I just checked and the wear pattern is pretty large. You could go with a slightly non-maximized raster and be within the wear or even the tube wear. I thought Peri and others had pretty good success with their tube wearing procedure.

That does sound larger than the ones I have seen which used about 60-70% of the horizontal surface of the tube. I believe some folks have had good luck with tube wear evening but it is relatively complicated and I believe a few folks have also made it worse. I think it is possible for sure just it is a somewhat complicated process that may or may not give one the results they are looking for.

Honestly GL is not the place to get the bargains. Look elsewhere and be quick the bargains are out there. Also if you want a cheap 9" set aim a little lower. The slightly lesser Barco 1209s and Runco clones still have the high res tubes, frequently come with HD120s (Runco clones at least) which while not HFQ900 are still REALLLY nice lenses and as a bonus the Runco clones come with the colored C elements for correct colors which most of the 9x9s don't come with (the Cine 9 do). There are at least three 9" sets right now in various spots on the net (two have been mentioned in recent postings here) that are in the $1500 range. I bet you could bargain one of those down to close to a $1000. They are all on the east cost though so depends on your location and willingness to travel. You got a work a little but you can find a bargain on 9" sets.

I am the guy in Georgia, and decided not to bid. Instead - bought a G90 down in Florida for a good price with just 1600 hrs on the unit.

Almost went digital this time instead, but I've dreamed of a 9" set for so long - had to pull the trigger.

Now - will have to tear down my 2 year old theater room projector box just to fit that 30" x 42" beast of a projector!

Cool on the G90, I'd inquired about that one as well. Seller claims no tube wear, but wouldn't send me tube pix, I guess he had enough people inquiring. At 1600 hours, I was betting on a bit of tube wear, most likely completely usable though.

Thanks Curt. I'm pretty excited about the G90. Even with a bit of wear, it should still be a very nice unit.

I asked the guy and he claimed he doesn't really deal with CRTs, and has had this unit sitting for 3 months.

I'll probably be getting a Moome card from you soon...

-----------

I thought for sure you had won those Barcos!
