if it hasn't been sitting in the fridge at the liquor store for a year it will be much better than the cans or bottles. With Beer the rule of thumb is the larger the container the better the quality simply because the liquid is in contact with less metal or less sunlight.
I don't think we bought the Heineken but There's a few other mini keg's I tried and really liked too back in the day. They're quite a bit more cost wise than a normal 12 pack.

Funny... I just tried one of those at a friend's party a few weeks ago. He had a Warsteiner mini-keg and a Heineken DraghtKeg. They were both good, but one big difference I noticed between the two is that the Heineken DraghtKeg was supposed to keep in the fridge for something like a week because it used a pressurized C02 delivery method. The Warsteiner used a gravity-feed spigot deal, so air in the top meant you needed to consume it one sitting.
I might have to try a DraghtKeg soon. Price-wise, I think it was pretty close to buying the same amount in cans or bottles, but I liked the idea of not having a bunch of damn cans or bottles cluttering up the fridge, and that I could just stick a glass in there... Never mind it's probably better that way than out of a can or bottle.

I had a draightkeg once.
Crap! One person shouldn't be allowed to drink that much, I was shocked when it was empty. Had to bum some rum from my brother to finish the night.

Nahhh, to many micro brews around me and at the girl friends place! Bring home the big refillable bottles, about the size of the mini keg.

That's a good point, DB... Nothing like a big growler full of a nice, fresh microbrew in the fridge!

If you can find it, try Bell's "Two Hearted Ale" in the mini-keg. It's gravity fed as well. It is really good, but will kick you in the rear big time!!!

Do these have a best before date on them??
Being in Australia i dont drink imported beers usually, i generally stick with Coopers best extra stout ( or any Coopers ales ), the longer you leave it sit before consumption the better, it even has a "best after" date on it.

Well Guys!
I have tried Heineken DraughtKeg, and........drum roll.........and a big "Mooooahahahahaha"...........it is fabulous!!!!!! Each DraughtKeg has its' own CO2 inside, packs about fourteen bottles of beer (five liters), and sells here around Phoenix for $20. Not the cheepest, but the best taste/smoothness this side of a huge keg needing its' own little fridge and a CO2 tank with plumbing. If you are tired of dicking around with bottles to return, this is the answer!!!!
