Hey Guys,

I need a new remote for my HTPC, I don't need anything overly complex or a remote that has 10,000 functions. I run MC7 as my front-end with MediaBrowser for movies.

I would like a remote that can learn custom commands as I need to be able to control the video zoom/aspect ratio controls in Media Center.

In the past I have had some of the Ati Remote Wonders and they worked fine but I believe support ended with Windows XP, I also had a Firefly RF remote and loved it with the exception of the software.

How are the basic Media Center remotes that are all over Ebay? Usually they are branded Dell, HP, etc... If they can learn commands I'll probably just go that route as it would likely be cheapest.

Any other suggestions? I have looked at getting a cheap iPod Touch and using iRule, but it just looks like too many different things to possibly go wrong.

Erik

Generic MS remote is fine.

I have used a gyration version for a few years but the built-in mouse was always flaky.

I am on a $20 Rosewill model I think and it works fine.

The one problem I noticed is that there is no standard button layout so you have to "relearn" the buttons on every damn remote.

I got mine from newegg.
