Finally got around to setting up my Vision 1 and I have a few problems. First no matter what input signal I feed it I can not get it maximized on the raster. I can extend the internal test patterns right off the tube face but I can only get about 75% of the tube width with a signal. The other issue I am having is that there are some vertical bands in the image on the far left side of the screen.
on another note, I believe that this may have been the first Vision ever sold in the info page it says Vision 1 0001 and it has a low serial number: 085240003

The first problem is related to blanking time (i.e. horizontal front and back porch and H sync settings). Try to change "retrace" from "long" to "short", in picture menu, maybe this is enough to stretch active image size. Best thing would be to buy a videoprocessor able to custom timings settings (e.g. a cheap Lumagen HDP/HDQ, which even is able to perfectly nail down gamma curve and grayscale)
Second: vertical bands on the left of image are related to "ringing". You can get rid of them shifting right the image along the raster. Again, best way to manage ringing is to use custom timings. Definitively you need a VP!
greetings, Carmine

Hello
Actually you want long retrace unless the image is wrapped at the side. Source signals are never as wide as the test pattern but should reach 90% of the width of the test pattern. The vertical bands may be a horizontal board issue.

The serial number 085240003 indicates that this was serial number 3 assigned to contract/purchase order number 08524.
This allows VDC(or, previously, Electrohome or Christie) to quickly look up the specific build configuration for the projectors made
on that contract/PO number. All the projectors built on a specific contract/PO number will be in the same configuration.

Hello
Your serial number suggests a build date in late 1995.
