That’s right… daddy’s doing 816P@72Hz now - and that's with no cutting of the sides either.

The reason why it didn’t work before, probably had to due to the misalignment of the pj by 1 inch.

Well, nowing that I redid everything tonight, but this time I used my Bosch PLC20 to help me a little. When all was done I had to lift my pj in back by 3mm and used a simple magazine for that.

I very glad I finally did it right, because that had a remarkable effect on the Stigmator adjustment in service menu. Before the dots looked triangular or oval in shape but now they look very round indeed. Maybe I don’t need to fiddle with the magnets after all. The previous owner must have had it aligned just like me. I can tell because most values were left at 50 while other parts of the image had minor adjustments to them only. Improvement there for sure.

What’s left now is to have the laser point out the exact location where to drill for the ceiling mount. All I have to do is place the laser next to bolt holes of the pj and push ceiling mode. A dot will tell me where to drill. I’m planning on chains and hanging it without turning it over for easy access and tuning. Chains will be hung like 4 inches wider than the projector to keep it more stable if anyone walked accidentally in to it.

Update: It almost worked; because apparently there’s another ratio I forgot bout; the unusually 2, 20.1. That ratio messed up a lot things actually, and a more common ration than anyone would expect. But other than that it looks pretty good at the moment. But I needed to create another channel for 2,20.1@72HZ in order for it to work flawles

Those Australian Crocodilian LAger really came throe for me tonight as it gave me extra strength and protection I needed for this ordasius task.

I finally got to it and did the magnetics today, for the first time. Redid everything once more and finalized the coordinates in the ceiling this time. I’m very glad I spent those 170 $ on that laser because it sure was worth every penny. I can’t believe I didn’t use it from the start when I first got it.

Btw, why not post some new photos of your theater? There can never be enough screenshots I think.

looking good! How did you manage to convince Windows 7 that there is such a thing as 1920x816 ?
In XP you can tweak all you want, but I've heard that Windows 7 is much stricter with enforcing the 'official resolutions' that the video driver developer thought of.

Windows 7 will do any resolution you like within certain specs if there is no EDID involved.

With the help from some members here I got it to work. When creating a new resolution I must disconnect the monitor otherwise Win7 won’t let me, probably because the monitor uses 60Hz in normal operation mode. But once created it forces the monitor to accept the new resolution. However, it could be a coincidence or nor, but the monitor suddenly got a black square in the upper left corner. But then again; its 10 years old.. Maybe trying with a cheaper monitor first and then switch back?
Open Nvidia control board up, if you have Nvidia, and set your projector as primary and monitor secondary.

Plus there are ways of hacking EDIDs to get get custom resolutions.

You can do that too, but i found really easy to just take the EDID pin out of the DVI-RGB adaptor, that way its easy to swap back if you decide you want it again. Then when Windows calls it default monitor, you can usually do what you like.

oooh, indeed. I've got a dozen spare VGA cables and I've cut the pin on one and tried it with an older LCD TV.
That TV provides wrong information so you can only choose the wrong resolutions in Windows.
It works! Didn't know that was so easy Smile
