Hi everybody !

I bought this used monitor for 40€ a few monthes ago :

(don't care about the flash which made the screen all gray/green)

It's a 2006 ViewSonic P227FB Professional Series, one of the last 21" CRT monitors. Very Happy
It uses a Samsung tube (Shadow Mask), so it's not as good as my CPD-G520 but it can display the 1080p@50Hz resolution of my PS3 via a HDfury1 with a perfect centring. (unlike the Sony)

When I switched on this thing for the first time (3-4 monthes ago), the picture was a bit blurry, so I adjusted the focus controls on the flyback and the picture was more sharp.
Since a few weeks, I'm under the impression that it is not as sharp as it was when I adjusted it a few monthes ago, as if it has become blurry very progressively.
I could unterstand it for a period of 10 years, but I adjusted the focus of this monitor 3 or 4 monthes ago.. Neutral

The other problem I have is the brightness level which fluctuates from time to time.. Sometime it starts very bright and stays like this (unlike Sony monitors) until I switch off it. It was so many bright one time that I must reduce G2 voltage (with the control on the flyback) to have a good level of black, but later, when it comes back to a "normal" level of brightness, the screen was too dark even with OSD brightness adjustement @ 100% .. Sad
Maybe the G2 voltage which is not steady ?..

When I adjusted focus and G2, I cracked the glue which was on the controls and didn't replace it with anything, but the pots are not easily movable (unless with the screwdriver of course), I don't think those things could turn themselves, but who knows.. Surprised

Otherwise it's a good monitor, so if somebody have an idea about the source of those problems (the flyback, or just a faulty resistor..), please let me know ! Cool

Thanks in advance an sorry for my english ! ><

OK, thanks ! Smile

It's a pity that these monitors are not built to last.. Confused
Neverthleless, the focus keeps relatively correct, so I'll keep using it to display my PS3 untill it's dead. Embarassed

Wait for Macguyver to come in here. He'll tell you what to fix.
