Thanks for your purchase IFB-FULLHD/VIM-FULLHD
we will reversion the IFB-FULLHD/VIM-FULLHD and need your opinion on TOSLINK
do you think you need TOSLINK on IFB-FULLHD/VIM-FULLHD ?
we will add 3D glasses interface and remove TOSLINK due to not enough space for board.
let us know your advise
Thanks and regards

I don't use the TOSlink on my Marquee Moome card. I doubt many do. It just doesn't make sense to run video all the way to the projector, then audio all the way back to the receiver. I'm sure their are certain setups where it makes sense, but I can't imagine for the majority.
Do you plan to offer an upgrade service for existing V2 and above boards?

Moome and I have been talking a lot and I think this is why Moome has posted the question about removing the TOSLINK.
The industry standard connector for a 3D IR emitter or TTL 3D glasses is a 3-pin mini-din. Moome and I have been trying to decide if he should use the industry standard 3-pin din or use a 3.5 mini phono plug instead. Moome has enough room on the board for the TOSLINK and a mini phono, but not enough room for a TOSLINK and 3-pin mini-din.
I suggested to Moome that he do away with the TOSLINK all together because I don't think anyone uses it. And I think it would be a good idea to use the industry standard 3D plug on the board so people can buy any 3D emitter and plug it directly into a Moome board without any kind of adapter.
I think that is the real question

I didn't use Toslink for my previous G70 as well as my current Vision 1. Don't need it at all

The other thing about the TOSLINK is that I can't think of a time where it is not redundant. I mean, every source that I have ever worked on (I think) also has TOSLINK and/or coax digital out. So you can always fall back on the source TOSLINK output right?

Kal, yes I know Moome was asking about the vim and yes I did mod a Moome vim board to use in my Zenith 1200.
I use the toslink out on the vim board because I use an Oppo HDMI switcher for my inputs and it doesn't have separate toslink inputs or outputs and I need toslink for my amps because thats the way I designed them way back when, it's a long story.

Hmmm, I'd have to look, but it's the video out you're looking for. You have a set of schematics for the vim don't you? You need to readjust the white level after changing the gamma level.

You can test it with a 100ire test pattern or any test pattern that has a 100ire peak, then just set the contrast pot until it's at .7v on the scope. Yes you can take it from the ouput of the opamp for the green channel.

I always use the contrast adjustment with an Oscilloscope Moome. After changing gamma the contrast needs to be matched.
~ you could move the contrast pot on the inside of the board if you need the space for a delay trimmer. I could pull the card out, make an adjustment, and then reinsert the card and test again. It would only take a few iterations to get it right anyway.
