Me again,
well I got to the point to doing lens flapping on green.
I have the H pattern up (no input source) and the center and bottom right
are pretty sharp.
about 10 inches across the top is really out of focus. You can make out the H
but just barely.
Bottom left is out of focus compared to bottom right, but better than top left or
right.
So do I keep adjusting the hor and ver till it is a decent compromise or does
it all have to be sharp?
So far no adjustment seems to affect the top 10 inches at all.
All responses are appreciated.
Please remember I am clueless on this stuff.

I would recommend using the phosphor grain technique for lens flapping as well as optical focus.
That way you don't need to worry about MG Focus. It is too difficult to tell if your issue is lens flapping or MG focus. With a maximized raster the H pattern will less sharp in the corners no matter what you do.
Have you read the Brian Hampton G70 setup guide? If not it is a good place to start.

Make sure your alignment is as close to perfect that you can get. Lens axis perpendicular to screen and centered. Use tape measure and assistant and measure center of PJ to corners of screen, then left and right sides to corners. Take off the housing around the lenses like you would for flapping and you will find some convenient spots to hook the end of the tape on. N.B. MAKE SURE THE HORIZONTAL FLAPPING IS NEUTRAL ON THE GREEN. (make parallel to faceplate). It is almost impossible to get everything in focus without good mech. setup.
