here is the post that started it all. |
I actually saw that after the fact on google.. I saw them on the GL site first and then wondered what the conspiracy was
It was kinda unusual that they showed up & were auctioned with not nearly as much time as is usual..
The last Seos units I saw at a DRMO (by chance I was there -- they weren't on the site yet) were all brand new 1209s, I think there was 5 or 6 of them.. all with lens caps still in place. They sold for around $1700 each, IIRC.
The same time there was a bunch of Ampro TAC4s (rear-pro 3600's on a shock mount) that were also brand new but had all the boards pulled, which was not all that apparent in all the auctions.. hard to know what you're getting sometimes.

Nash gave you guys some hints, so I hope you could figure it out.
I usually check the gov once every couple of weeks, but with my travel I didn't check and Nash emailed me about them. I would have probably seen them on Mon or Tue. That wouldn't have given me time to check them out. I went down yesterday and spent about 45 minutes with them. Basically hugging, caressing and whispering sweet nothings into their lenses. I had the run of the place by myself. I looked in almost every tube with a flash light. They are at worst "8" rated tubes. I fired only one of them up and hooked up my laptop. The blank screen without sync was a rectangle. The desktop was a moon. The pjs have 21k hours on them and supposedly 18k on the tubes, but they obviously had been retubed with LUGs. I almost got the other four, but fortunately someone outbid me. I don't have $11k to pay for them.

Now as for what I am going to do with them. I am going to keep one and I promised one to Nash. We have to work out something, because neither one of us expected it to go that high. I will probably list the other two for a decent price just to get my money back out of them. Of course, Crabb if you want to carry one back with you on the plane.

I just looked at the pic and the date is May 02. The other one I looked at was Nov 01.
Honestly guys, I thought I hit the jackpot when I looked at them yesterday. I didn't think they would go that high. Nash wanted one or two and I wanted one. I thought I could sell the other five or six and make a decent profit. Oh well. Basically when I am done. I will probably have a free 909. I told Nash that I would deliver his, so I guess I will get a free meal as well.

Man that is a long way away. Once I get them, I will have to decide. Maybe the end of next week or the following week.
The other buyer better hope that I don't grab the other four and make a break for it. Most of these gov guys would probably could care less and wouldn't chase me.

Oh, I forgot. I still have to take care of that customer that I blew off today to come home and bid on them. Let me see what she wants to do.
Cedia is tomorrow. Does anyone think I should trade the four Barcos for a JVC?
I got some more good news, at least I hope. I think I have a good living situation going on in SoFl. I won't be able to mount the pj on the ceiling in the living room, but I can put it either in a coffee table or behind the couch.

I am glad someone from the forum got the units based on my post. However, share a little love and give me the opportunity to get one:)

No offense, but I would have seen them. It may have just taken till Monday when I got back from Miami. If you want one or two, then give me a price. I have already received a couple of PMs about them. I know Curt said he wants one, but I am not sure he wants to give me what I need to get my money back. If he does, then there his.
Another interesting tidbit about this place, at least for me, was this was the base that I bought my first CRTs almost six years ago. I think out of four pj (three CRTs and one digital), I got one to work. It was a PG9+ and I used that for a couple of years. It was a good pj for $200.

I wonder what Delta would get for that. I also wonder how a 909 would handle the 4-foot drop to the ramp when the baggage monkeys slid it out of the baggage compartment...
Come to think of it, if I did take one, I'd also need to look for storage for when I got back... Not for the projector - for all the rest of my crap which would be on the lawn when my wife found out I bought another projector.

It is funny in that if you were to start dating a girl she would think the HT is kind of neat. As soon as you put the ring on her finger, then it is another story. That is how I got the G90.
On another note, I just paid for half of the pjs. So, I guess Nash and I have our 909s. I have to pay the other half tomorrow. It seems Mastercard won't let me spend over $3500 a day on my card. The gov ladies were extremely nice about dividing up the invoice over two days.

Uh, Spanky, dude... 4 + 1 + 2 = seven, count them, seven CRT projectors AND a digital. So you have more than Nashou does. I'd say you're both pretty sick.
