|

I have had and still have various brands and types of material to conceal, cover and fill in cavities. Some work fine, but most don't meet my needs.
So In searching the net, there's a bunch out there. But for the sake of not really wanting to try out the various makes and brands. I'd like to check here first to see what if any experience anyone has had with these materials.
1, a material that would replace th potting material removed from an electronic device.
2, a material that I could use to cover or conceal parts being used.
Number 1, I've not tried many. Number 2, has been a years long adventure.
I'm equally looking for both.
What's your experience?

Mike, I'll PM you a couple we use at work. One by itself won't hit both but one we use for #1, the other we use for #2.

The use of potting material on circuits that require it is one thing. Using it to conceal your work is another. It makes the board un-servicable. Just do what everyone else does that doesn't trust us. Grind the part numbers off.
You should see the input board on my Rock scaler. Just about every IC on that custom board has had it's numbers ground off.

I know ARP used resin to conceal their synth filters back in the day to prevent reverse engineering and sure enough it makes it very hard to repair and can cause heat buildup and other issues.
