anyone mount a flat screen (50") to a 45 degree angled wall? not sure if panel or mount is designed for this.

have you thought about lying on the floor and watching TV Very Happy

to use a commercial mount you might have to build a small stub wall behind the TV that is vertical but attaches to the 45 degree ceiling. i've attached a rough picture. the blue is the TV, the red is the commerdial mount and the green is the wall that you'd have to build behind the TV. don't even have to drywall it, as noone sees back there. just a few pieces of 2x4 would do it.

of course if you are not handy and the TV falls down from the stub wall ....

you might have to build your own custom mount. i can think of a design using unistrut, some readyrod and barrel connectors for fine adjustment. That wouldn't be too hard either.

No I haven't, but I will be lying on the bed! The tilt mount that I have will allow me to tilt it up slightly and I'm guessing it will be perfect for viewing in a horizontal position.

All I'm really after is whether the mount and TV can be safely mounted on a 45 degree angle. of course the norm is to mount on 90 deg wall so the stress points/direction on the mounting hardware will be shifted.

I don't see how anybody can see one way or the other on the mount issue because it would totally depend on the design of the mount whether it could be safely used on a sloped wall. My living room low-profile mount would not be safe at all mounted in that fashion, while my dad's ultra-low-profile mount looks like it could be practically mounted horizontally on the ceiling. All depends on the type of locking mechanism and either way, you'll need help hanging it.

As for the TV, I have a Toshiba Regza 42 torn apart right now, and the way it's constructed, I'm quite certain you could safely hang it horizontally on the ceiling.

agree that all mounts have different mechnaisms. some of the hooks used are very shallow and some are deeper or even have locking mechanisms. I just thought that there may have been others that have done this without issue (or perhaps with issue).
I think my type is ok but I thought I'd post to see what's out there.
Thanks for input thusfar.
