From an industrial point, the East Coast seems to be the hotspot for decommissions.. but usually sets with a -2 tube rating. Smile

As for HT sets, they are all over the place, but no question that places of high income are usually where you find them. Ironically, the highest end HT places are usually really snobby, and can never be bothered to call me when they get one 'to take to the dump' (yeah, I'm talking 'bout YOU, Seattle! Wink)

It seems to be the smaller HT companies that want an extra buck or two that call me for anything and everything, including SOny 1020s..Smile

You would think Aspen would be full of old Runcos and Vidkrons and Madrigals. Lacking in regular boardroom and enterprise class machines from Barco, and Electrohome themselves.
yes and there have been a few. An employee of one of those places dragged a V1 home and asked some questions about it here. Also remember a ronco 1200 and some lower end models wound up at an e-bay store in the foothills. Unfortunately though I think Curt is right, most of these places don't care and prolly haul them to the local dump. There was a story in the paper how the Aspen city dump had an entire section for working electronics to free-cycle. For whatever reason none of it seems ot make CL.
This local guy who wanted to see the runco 950 in a new home is the exception.

I also saw this post while surfing Craigslist, but the look I got from my wife when I suggested I go take a look at it.... well, I'll rather not repeat that experience again.

I was wondering if someone managed to pick it up, and I'm glad to know that there's someone in the area (Tim in Phoenix) who is good with Ehomes. I'm in Mesa, AZ for now, but have been "instructed" that getting any more CRT projectors would be hazardous to my health.

On another note, there's a Barco Graphics 801s currently on CL for $100, but I'm afraid of what may happen to me (fish food in the swimming pool out back) if I go & pick it up....

Tim, thanks for the words of encouragement, much appreciated.

My wife makes generous allowance when it comes to my gadgetry, she's even the person who purchased the 65" CRT RPTV, not myself. However, we do have some issues with space and in a year or so when we move from our 2000 sq ft house in Mesa back to our 1500 sq ft house in Minneapolis, some of my "stuff" may be the first to go.

I read somewhere that stuff is junk you keep & junk is stuff you get rid of....

I love my gadgets, but I love my wife more.

Ray

I wouldn't sweat it. As digitals get better and CRTs get older, there will be plenty of CRTs still coming up for sale at good prices.
