|
Hey guys!
Greetings from germany...
I´m now into Barco Projectors for a long time and got over 800 parts inclusive Tubes, quads, splitters, manuals, Projetors, board, etc.for analoge and digital ones.
I jused a long time my BG808 and switched now to an 808s. Problem is, that it got a defective Quad. No one can deliver a good one in germany to a good course, so i tried a used one of a 808 unit because i heard it should run with switching the EHT to the older version. (studied the Service manuels also...) It run good for about an hour, till it got blown away.
Did i made a mistake, or does the older EHT and quad does not run in the 808s?
Who find´s orthographic mistakes may keep them
Thanks and regards, tim

For what it is worth I have been running a Barco 1209s which originally came with the newer style/quad EHT with an older quad/EHT and had no problems at all. However at least on the 120x chasis you either have to change a jumper on the motherboard/frame or mod the older EHT board otherwise it won't work at all (no HV). If you didn't do that and were getting HV (albeit temporarily) it sounds like you might have mixed old quad with new EHT.

Yes, running a new EHT board with an old quad will blow the EHT within an hour.

The EHT runs perfekt, the quad did blow away.
It became a bubble on the silicone (or whatever it is) and run out of working. I think the capacitors in it went to hot.
I´ll have a look in the evening which parts i got left and would be glad if some of you can help me by finding the perfect match.

I had a look for some quads and got two ones here, one from the 801s and one from the 800. Both without the Barcostickers on it. Can anyone tell me which number they got, so i can have a look if they fit with mod in the 0808s!?

Old style G808s quad (R7622091) can be replaced with R761743 quad, but mounting holes are different so you need to make adapter.
But if your projector is BG808s/E (R9000903) and you plan to convert it to use all old hv section, you need to check also mother board (frame board) connections. Because this combination shouldn't give EHT at all according that eht service bulleting.
Old eht-quad DHV signal connection is done with mother board 27+28 pins and in new using 29+30 pins.
Hope you don't need to remove mobo for rewiring it, it's not fun to remove. You need to tear whole projector apart.
