I am happy to report that my XG is running again upon replacement of the V-DRIVE chip; rearmost one on the heat sink. Even with my 35 years of component/board level electronics repair experience I found it painstakingly challenging - very fine traces, thru-holes are very tiny and fragile plus getting the new STK into the board was a challenge with it all gooped up with paste and so many legs to feed in ---> I'd suggest sending your boards in to Curt if you are faced with this.

I have yet to mount it back on the ceiling but it ran happily on the test bench for a complete warm up cycle and a few power cycles along the way. It still a mystery to me why this fault exhibited two separate failure modes as it did ; one of which looked like it should have thrown a code...like one of the bn deflection ones maybe ? Weird....!

Nippon Electronics Corp. (NEC) Is still my #1 choice of displays in my home. Though I do use a Pioneer Professional plasma as well...

The day I switch to digital I'm going to switch to a Christie Digital - IMHO best digital projectors you can get.

They bought the electrohome name years ago, probably about the same time VDC got the remaining Electrohome CRT stuff.

Christie bought Electrohome, not just the name, they actually manufactured Marquees under their name, and later sold the Marquee chassis to VDC. But I don't think Christie would make anything useful for a hometheater, I mean they have either large scale movie projectors (big light cannon) or some crappy presentation projetors (smaller light cannon), nothing for home cinema, unless you have a biiiig srceeeen Smile

They do make some smaller non presentation projectors, I've followed the company since I first heard about them. Theres a 1366x768 model they made a while back that I'm still coveting for an outdoor projector, but the price keeps holding steady at $1000 so I keep waiting.

Why would you be wanting a 1366x768?
