I'm posting this system problem under CRT projectors even though I'm pretty certain the problem is not with the projector itself...
I have an apparent interlace problem when trying to display 1080i with a blu-ray HDMI source and a current-model moome EXT-FULLHD v2. The equipment chain is listed below.
More specifically, there appears to be no actual interlace occurring when the Blu-Ray player is set to source 1080i.
It looks like there is only one field present, or if the interlace field is present, it is not filling the gaps of the first field as it should. The picture looks like you might expect to see if you were set up for 540p. The scan lines are rock steady but with black spaces between them. There is no discernible line crawl on the screen that is normally visible on interlaced video with vertical motion or if you intentionally lead your eye vertically with a finger on the screen.
This does NOT appear to be related to my XG-852 or the Faroudja, because it displays the same way with no interlace on a multisync CRT computer monitor being fed directly from the EXT-FULLHD.
My only HD source at present is a new Panasonic BMP-BD85K Blu-Ray player. I run the HDMI output to the new EXT-FULLHD v2( late model received around Aug 1, 2010), then run the HD15 through a Faroudja NRS in HDTV passthru mode to the RGBHV input of the projector. The Faroudja can be ruled out because as I said earlier, a multisync CRT shows the same problem when fed directly via the VGA output from the moome.
I can successfully run both 720p and 1080p (with 1080p cropped about 4% horizontally and a bit smeary on green), but I would like to give 1080i a fair evaluation since some have recommended it as the best choice for this projector.
At this point I'm not certain I can point to the EXT-FULLHD or the Blu-Ray source as causing the interlace problem (or lack of it).
I have run into this sort of interlace problem on an old projector that would under certain conditions have both interlace fields "latch up" directly on top of each other, with the look of low resolution progressive scan with obvious black lines. This is unrelated to the current problem, and I only mention it because this is where I learned to spot this particular type of interlace problem.
Can anyone offer any suggestions on what the problem might be or how to troubleshoot this further?
Thanks.

You may want to cross post this to the Moome forum. Moome doesn't check the other forums.

Actually I wasn't certain until today where the source of the problem was, but I have confirmed that the EXT-FULLHD v2 that I just received is putting out something like 540P with a 1080i input (confirmed by 3 different displays, and the Blu-Ray player has been exonerated).
I will take this to the Moome forum. Thanks.
