Hi, maybe you guys would know what would cause this and if its a big deal...
my ECP 4100 has been doing this for a while now... the test pattern will show up in the middle of what i'm watching on its own and a little click inside the projector... does that mean something more serious is failing inside? thanks a bunch!

the remote is on a shelf not anywhere near the censor... and i can hear like a clicking sound inside the projector... it appears for a few seconds and then my movie or whatever comes back.

Something else could be triggering it. I installed compact florescent lights in the ceiling fan behind my Ampro 2600 in the bedroom. The sensor points at them and when I turn on the lights it will power on the PJ.

I do love my AmPro's

Guys!
An arc in the machine can do that. When the problem was discovered, Electrohome rewrote the firmware so the grid timed out in a few minutes.

Tim do you know what the software version is that corrected this problem ?
Seems like all I have ever owned were Barco's.

I want to say v3.4, but I'm a little foggy after fifteen years...

hmm... well can this damage the machine? i don't have any electronics skills really so i'm pretty much helpless when it comes to this type of stuff except basic stuff. otherwise i could get a nasty shock from these things. i still need a HVPS for the other identical ECP i have. i got quoted on a price for one.. $80! damn i almost sh*t myself... just a poor student here i'd like to have a spare one then i have a COMPLETELY working second machine for replacement or parts if something on this one fails... i'd be lost without it. i love it.
