ok how is this going, my blue tube now has contaminated glycol and has a terrible haze, if the water works i want to try that.

I don't think it will work well Dennis. also look into the tube and see if you can notice any dark spots on the face plate housing. they usually appear near the fill holes. If so you'll have to take them apart and paint the housings with Epoxy
paint.

mike you have tested the water, could you please post some results.
nashou, i will look at that when the blue comes out , it is impossible to see now with the clouded glycol.
the other 2 tubes are fine so it is likely that i have not cleaned the chambers enough, they were filled at the same time with the placing of your bellows.
good thing no silicone was needed.

I've not really tested it other than putting it into my RED Lc chamber on my 8500LC test bed.

So far it's still clear as rain. And there's no noted expansion of the bellows. Not sure if the short time that i've had it in my CRT chamber would that be enough time to know anything.

One thing I'm sure of, when I wrap up all things to my Marquee, that coolent will be replacing the stuff that's already in my tubes.

Yep, I'm going forward with it..

Very interesting: anyone knows if there's any EU reseller for this product (Ice Clear)?
Getting rid of glycol would be really nice and for many reasons...

Mike,
Where did you get the quart size bottle from? Not sure if I need a gallon.
Thanks,
Dan

My RD701 lost it's glycol to the floor a few years back.
Replaced it with distillate water.
I didn't clean the chamber however.

I looked at it today and there are millions of microscopic "bubbles" in it. Hard to see but it's there.
I guess the glycol divided itself into an even density or something.

No sign of growing things though. If the "bubbles" isn't the growing bit with no sign of glycol.
Hard to tell.

this was their answer.

Thank you for your inquiry. We are primarily an industrial/military supplier and work direct rather than through retail. You can purchase directly from us on our website or by calling us at 800.460.2403. I have provided the product page link below to help answer any questions you may have about our products. Our various antifreeze formulations (AF, PGX, HD, FF, FS) can be found under the “Deicers/Antifreeze/Heat Transfer Fluid Tab, then click on the link on the left of the product you would like to see (individual product page links will be on the right where the short description shows up).

i ssume they mean us gallons so 1 gallon = 3.785 liters, more then enough for 3 tubes.

this is an experiment but it looks crystal clear.
i will put the tube back in 1 hour to be sure it doesnt leak.

The link you provided is a cleaning solvent ? I assume you meant this.

If your in the US the MCM glycol/glycerin mix would be my recommendation until we get further testing results on possible alternatives.....

Just read a few threads and you said the EU. I thought it was Nederland,Colorado or Texas. MCM cannot ship Glycol to the EU last I checked.

?same link? but now i have demineralised water and glycerin in my blue tube and so far it looks good besides all the air bubbles but that will take a few days before they go away.

i am starting to think ri is overrated.

Your right, I had the same trouble directing the link to the heat transfer fluid. Distilled water is corrosive so I think the point of this thread is to find something that acts like glycol and is non corrosive but has a close refractive index.

What is the refractive index of the C element? What is it made of? According to Wiki, silicone oil might be a better medium depending on the material of the C element.

Probably c-elements are made of acrylic glass (1.490 - 1.492).
Silicone oil (1.52045) is closer than water (1.3330) and about same amount off that glycol/glyserin mix.

Acrylic matching liquid would be best match, but look at that price. Shocked
http://www.cargille.com/specimmerliq.shtml

Cheaper source for silicone oil. Very Happy

This is good site for indexes
