$500 is good for a 1100 AC if the tubes are good. It's not as good as an LC, but it's still better than an RS-20 for $4-6k.

I have a G70VR and I went out on an install with Curt on an NEC XG1100. I guess the only thing I can say about the experience is mine is sexier looking. Smile Its going to be a great projector experience presuming you have no service issues in the near or distant future. Sony has the advantage of the liquid coupled tubes. And the NEC has a different focusing system which I think Curt said was a little better or easier. In my case I guess I just happened to get lucky because I guess the VR is quite rare. And my tubes had no visible wear. (But they weren't minty I discovered after seeing the 4:3 raster on screen. Minor wear probably in the green in the 16:9 area.) So maybe it can do tolerably good 3D. Looking forward to trying. So slight advantage to the G70 in my opinion presuming equal tube wear.

Minor nit: ALL CRT projectors have liquid COOLED tubes. AC projectors have glycol on the tube face and a flat piece of glass in front. Your G70 has liquid COUPLED tubes, meaning the glycol acts as part of the lens.
